The writing staff writes as if they think they are in the 80's. You can't just spat out and show 60's pop culture every episode and act as if that's enough for us to believe the show is set in the 60's.

I think it's convincing. The set design, music and clothes are right on target and not overdone--the tone and mood look 60s enough to me.
Not everyone in the 60s used words like groovy, coolcat, etc. I think they're doing a great job. I love the show. |

Keep in mind that this series is set in the early sixties, still clinging to the more happy 50's ideals.
Perhaps they're trying to depict the more innocent times, before vietnam, free love, the anti war movement, the civil rights movement, so I'm sure you'll be seeing the characters change in attitudes and speech as these elements are added. |

I think the show is very convincing, and should stay the way it is. It's perfect... the best new show in awhile...

I think American Dreams is doing a superb job of setting the tone for the 60s. I lived the 60s, and they're talking like we did back then which is basically the same as today. If you watch an old 40s or 50s movie, it's mostly the same as today too. |

example, a *** used to be called a cigerette. you are not going to hear too many people use it in that context anymore. i watch a lot of old movies on tv and like I said before, this show does not use 60's slang. |

I think the show is good, but I think it seems to move kind of fast in some ways but I guess it'll keep the audiences interested.
