"Office Ladies" Podcast Reveals the Names of Michael Scott’s Children from Unfilmed Scene in Series Finale

On their podcast episode breaking down the series finale of "The Office", the “Office Ladies” — Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey — performed their rewatch ritual for listeners one last time, going minute by minute to describe everything that brought the Emmy-winning NBC comedy to its conclusion after nine seasons on May 16, 2013.

In the episode, posted on Oct. 30, titled “Finale, Part 2,” Kinsey and Fischer spilled a tonnage of behind the scenes details about how the finale came together, including how showrunner Greg Daniels had kept Steve Carell’s return as Michael Scott a secret from NBC executives until the day before the episode aired, so they couldn’t spoil the surprise by promoting his appearance.




They revealed a detail that didn’t end up making it on screen: the names of Michael and Holly’s children. The news would have been delivered by Holly during a prototypical “Office” talking head — but Ryan’s schedule had precluded her from appearing in the finale.

Her interview for the documentary had even been scripted, as Holly held her and Michael’s two children: “Irish twins,” Fischer said. Fischer characterized the number of questions they’d gotten about Michael’s return as a “fanmail flurry,” which is an “Office Ladies” term of art — and a listener from Toronto asked whether Michael had gotten “his third vasectomy reversed?” It seems he had.




Another listener asked whether there was any evidence of the kids’ names, which is when Fischer read Ryan’s lines, which were never filmed.

“Life is good,” Holly would have said. “We have two sons: Chebonshur and Lowshebin. Michael named them. He said it was based on the feeling he had when he first saw them.” (Fischer spelled the names to Kinsey)
