Josh Gad Found Out on his Wedding Night that "Back to You" was Cancelled
Josh Gad Found Out on his Wedding Night that "Back to You" was Cancelled
by Raechal Shewfelt October 17, 2024 Josh Gad's 2008 wedding to Ida Darvish is something that he'll never forget, for more than one reason. "They come up to me," Gad said of those in charge of his 2007-08 sitcom "Back to You", on Monday's edition of the "Dinner's on Me with Jesse Tyler Ferguson" podcast, "and they say, 'Well, hate to break this news here, but, just got official word: The show was canceled.' And I'm thinking to myself, Holy s---. Why did I agree to pay for this wedding?" "Oh, it was brutal. It was brutal," Gad said. "When you're on what you think is gonna be a hit show, and then you deal with the reality of, like, What went wrong? And, Am I ever gonna get a job again? And Now that I've been on this failed thing, who trusts me with another thing? And I spiraled. I was terrified." Gad attributed the death of the sitcom after just 17 episodes to the 2007 writers' strike. "As a result, we unfortunately lost a significant amount of opportunity to continue the show," Gad said. "I think there was a lot of resentment between, at that time, the creative heads at Fox and our writers because they were on the front lines of the strike." https://ew.com/josh-gad-found-out-on...nceled-8728681 |
