I never really noticed the door there, but I'll look for it when I watch the BB .

Could be a linen closet? Or the door to the attic?

I've never noticed a door there either.

One scene I remember involving the attic entrance is the one where the boys and girls kept pranking each other (before finally going on to Alice), and no shot of the door leading to the attic stairs shows it being near the main stairway.

I am curious now because even though I dont remember seeing a door at the top of the stairs I would not dispute it because the house does change with doors here and there. The center bathroom door comes and goes. The parent's bedroom glass sliding doors are shown in one episode and then disappear. It makes for good fun to notice and point out these little quirks.
Barry Williams has a theory why so many changes happened in the house over the years. During the off season the set was used by other shows where the set was dismantled in part. When the Bradys would return the set was never put back together the same way again. The brick BBQ grill changes locations often too and sometimes disappears. Barry and Chris love to talk about the tree in the back yard. In season 1 it was in the same place. The tree would move to a different spot, disappear and reappear again in a different spot.

This is it! I know I've always pushed that the house HAD to have a guest room, Aunt Jenny had to sleep someplace, and I'm not thinking she was CRAMMED into the girls' room into a SINGLE-sized bed, and the grandparents had to sleep some place when Marsha impromptu invited them over. So I'm wondering if that door could have been a small guest bedroom.... It's not the linen closet, because that is further back, nor is it the attic door because it, too, is further down the hall

It appears the door opens to the INSIDE, so likely it's a ROOM of some sort and not a closet, as closet doors usually open to the outside

Thanks for posting. Now its our job to look at every episode to see if it comes and goes or was mostly there for episodes. Or when did it appear?

Perhaps its another door to the attic because logically around that corner would be the attic door to the left. It also could be another linen closet that we never saw before.
Although all of this is a bit crazy because its not a real house and a stage. Its almost like the discussion is there a room under the stairs.

My theory is that door and light switch was put there to make the second floor look authentic. We know that is just a staircase on a stage with nothing at the top. The bedrooms were actually outside the front door. Having a door and lights witch does make it look like a real staircase and a real house.

The reason I decided against that was, their linen closet was shown and it's further down the hall, PLUS this door seems to open to the INSIDE, indicating it's more than likely a room of some sort, not a closet, as closets usually open to the outside

Storage closet?
Perhaps the width of the parents bathroom on the other side. Adjacent to the parents wardrobe closet.
That's where they kept their Christmas decorations.

The door at the top of the stairs was never not there. Same for the door in the Jack and Jill bathroom.

The patio door in the parents bedroom is suggested and only ever seen in one close up. The only other time we see the fourth wall with the window is in Going, Going Steady.
