Why the Big Ratings Drop in Season 4?
ALF tied for #15 in season 3. Season 4 it fell completely out of the top 30 leading to cancellation. Major Dad's freshman season could have been a factor but that didn't make the top 30 either. There was also 21 Jump Street as FOX was just getting started, that would go after a different audience. MacGyver remained on ABC both years.

I am only guessing but after 4 years Alf sort of jumped the shark. How many episodes can you write about a puppet space alien.
The worst part is how season 4 ended with Alf going to space on a cliff hanger to see if he was going back. We never got a season 5 to find out what happened
