Nice subject line,

I really enjoyed this week's episode. After a few (IMO) mediocre episodes, this episode reminds me of why I started watching ER in the first place. There were compelling medical story lines and good character development, all balanced nicely.

One thing I really noticed and loved about this episode was the directing. It was excellent. That scene where the woman pulls the plug alternating with Susan arguing with Carter all while that aria is playing in the background was brilliant. Easily one of the most well-crafted scenes I have ever seen on a TV show. I also loved the trick of the camera they played when Susan phoned the son's primary physician, how they showed her, and then that one nurse (don't know her name) as a reflection in the glass, and then the guy's mom as a reflection. It's really little things like this that add up to making a great show. It had a great ending too, with Chen letting loose, and good directing with the camera angle and slow mo in that scene too.

I am really excited about this season. Has anyone seen that TV Guide they showed in the commercial calling them the "next generation of ER" or whatever? Is it in stores now? I love bascially all the characters on the show right now (yes even Pratt...see the other thread for more on that if you really care) and personally, I enjoy this "generation" of ER better than the old one, with the only notable exception being Mark. (and of course Carter and Susan, who were also original players)

Abby was a hero, I couldn't beleive she was able to think that fast and disable the guy. I kept expecting the addict to turn around at the last second and shoot Chen anyway. That guy was Lee Terguson a regular on HBO's prison show Oz--that show is unbleleivably horrifying and realistic, you can't turn away even though you want to. Anybody watch it?

OOoh, that was the best episode of this season so far! I totally thought the nut was going to shoot Pratt when he turned around and told Pratt to remember the gun or whatever...it was really intense. And that was good thinkin on Abby's part. When he cam over and kissed her and thanked her, you could see the rage in Carter's eyes! And I thought that when the nut walked past Eric, Eric was gonna take him out or something! That was a really good episode!

I know I'm a bit late, but I loved that episode. I think this season is going pretty well so far.
