In my copy of Aretha Franklin's Greatest Hits album from 1993 in the liner notes of the album I learned that Aretha released an album called Aretha "the second album with this title" in 1986 and I had never seen this album before and wanted to know more about it. Was this album Aretha Franklin's second bestselling album of the 80's next to her Who's Zooming Who? album of 1985 or was it a failure when it came out? The singles released from Aretha "1986" were United Together and Jimmy Lee and Aretha also covered The Doobie Brothers hit What A Fool Believes that also was released as a single. Was Aretha Franklin hoping to reinvent herself with a sound and image in the 80's with this album?
