I've been watching a few Dobies a day, and am finally near the end. It's just a really good show - seldom reaches the peaks of Lucy or Dick van Dyke, but very consistently funny. One hundred, forty episodes in and I just had my first "jump the shark" inkling. Thalia and the Osbornes are wonderful, especially Doris Packer as Mrs. Osborne.
I have noticed in this last seasons at least a few things Gilligan later picked up: Maynard becoming a Jekyll and Hyde, the Osbornes going broke and becoming household servants, and Robbie the Robot showing up. There's also a moment where Maynard is saying "No, no, no...," and then they flip the scene and doing it, which is very reminiscent of Gilligan's, "You can't make me...." Edit: now Maynard's super strong. |
