...Would you let your kids watch some episodes of DS?
For example, in The bicycle Man and The hitchhikers it encourages families to watch the episodes together but would you do it with your kids? |

That is a very good question.
I don't want to turn my post into a sappy after school special kind of deal, but that's how it's going to turn out. Here goes: I'm 18 years old, and I guess you could say that I am still very inexperienced with the ways of the world. By the time I have kids (let's just say I'm 30 when I have kids) the world would have changed so much. The stuff I dealed with in my teen years could've doubled or tripled itself by the time my kids are teenagers. I would probably show my kids the episodes. Of course, I would try and explain a bit about life along the way and let them know about some of the dangers of the world. Maybe the episode will kind of let them know how the world operates sometime. I know the episodes of DS are a lot shorter than some of my talks would ever be. The thing about it is, I don't want to be all in my kids faces. I want them to experience freedom out in the world, but I want them to know that I'll always be there for them. I don't think my parents were up in my face. They allowed me to make my own mistakes and sometimes mistakes are needed. Okay, I've never done this before but I'm going to use it as an example. Let's say I got drunk one night and got behind the wheel of a car and slammed into a telephone pole. If it was a minor car accident, it might show me that drinking and driving isn't the wisest thing to do. Of course if it was a major car accident and I died in the accident, than it showed me the causes of drinking and driving. Argh! I think I got way off topic. I better send this post on it's way before I make it even more sappy or get even more off topic! |

If I had kids and they wanted to watch the so called controversial episodes, i'd probably let them. After all look at what children are being taught in sex ed class, the storylines on those DS episodes weren't nearly as graphic as some of the stuff I was taught in school. If people have a problem with there kids seeing a DS episode then they probably should be home schooloing them too.
