Default Ever feel guilty or empty?

My nextdoor neighbor Joanne died today. She either had a heart attack or stroke driving and went into in a ditch and had an aneurism. They pulled the lifesupport plug today because there was no chance of her waking up. I was never close to her really, and actually me and my parents often joked about them because they were kinda odd...but they were nice people...just...a lil messed up.
Anyways...have any of you felt guilty or weird after something bad happens to someone you either didnt like or never got to know that well??

Sad

I'm sorry about your neighbor. I do know what you mean about feeling guilty after someone dies because you either didn't like them or just didn't get to know them. There has been more than one incident in my life where someone has died and all of the sudden I feel horrible about something bad that I had said about them in the past.

I used to hate Dale Earnhardt and always cheered against him. Well, in 2001, when he died after hitting the wall during the Daytona 500...I was happy to see him hit the wall 'cause then he wouldn't win...but then it took them so long to get him out. I said to myself, "Oh my God, if he dies I'll feel horrible because I cheered when he hit the wall." And he died. I felt so guilty.

At least I'm not the only one....

As you all probably have noticed by now, I'm highly depressed. I feel like a lifeless-emotionaless-blob with no reason to be on Earth. Translating to 'I have no feelings'.

I used to have feelings. I used to feel guilty about getting in fights with people, yelling, etc. The normal things.

But Crystal, I'm really sorry about your neighbor

Yeah, it's natural to feel guilty or sad about something like that. Especially since you don't have a chance to make it right. About all you can do is come to grips with what has passed and then try to be more thoughtful about what you say and do to others in the future. Sometimes you'll find yourself having held your toungue instead of spouting off, or having done someone a small favor when you really didn't feel like it, and when that happens you can pat yourself on the back and feel a little less lost.

And Karli, you're not a blob. Maybe you should write "Karli is not a blob" on the balckboard next Tuesday 100 times.

Lol, thanks for the reassurance. I was starting to feel scared...

Annnnnnyways, yes if I have the chance I will certainly do that. I usually spend more time in my principals office everyday then in class, but... oh well.

I don't remember the last time I felt guilty. I try to never do any wrong by anyone (unless they deserve it) so guilt never really figures in my life.
I do feel guilty about not spending more time with my Grandmother before she died but I don't really want to get into that right now.

I do feel empty a lot though.
My job is monotonous and soul-destroying and I have very few friends. I live with my parents but the relationship I have with them is completely false because I can't tell them anything about my life.

I'm used to feeling this way though. It's sad but I've become accustomed to it. I think if I ever felt happy with my life I'd probably self-destruct cos I've never experienced proper contentment before.

ive been friends with these people online for a long time. this situation is kind of hard to explain. and these 2 people met online and they flown to meet quite often. and the guys wife (wasnt divorced yet) was threatening she wanted the house, the money and the kids, and id often joked with the woman the guy was meeting, saying, yea she really needs to be put to sleep, stuff like that. and then months later, she was in a car accident and died. i felt really bad for all the things i said. her kids have to live the rest of their life with out a mother. by the way, they werent separating cuz of the other woman, they were having problems before he even met her online.

Also i feel guilty when people spend money on me.

Thank you.

For reassurance..I go through that stage a lot too. I feel so....alone. Dont worry, itll pass! I usually get in these depressed moods and I just watch old TV shows all day and get all emotional. Then, after a while, I feel MUCH better.

Oh GOd yes..I agree with Fans. I totally feel guilty when people spend $$ on me. Especially my mother. I always think to myself I like my Dad better etc... but shes the one who always buys me stuff and then I get all guitly about it.
