Dede,
How old were you when you met Freddie? You don't have to give specific numbers if you don't want to, but a kid, teenager, young adult? Did you notice any differences between Freddie and Chico? |

I'd love to hear more!
That sounds cool meeting a star!Actually watching CHICO & THE MAN is is one of those guilty pleasures. I've watched & enjoyed the show from episode on first time it was on tv & always thought it was a great show. I never did fall in love with Chico back then even tho he was cute for some strange reason. WELCOME BACK KOTTER & JOHN TRAVOLTA come along came then Shaun Cassidy & I wind up falling for them both. I'd always loved the Monkees ever since they first came out & when they put re-runs of them on the 70's I became a huge fan of them too. & I'm still a fan of them all. Got married in 1986 & in 88 became a fan of a famous singer after renting a video of him. In 1989 he did a show in our state & my hubby & I went & got to meet him. Ever since then we've been going to his shows & meeting him after the shows.& I collect on him too... So that's kept me busy over the yrs. How this ties into Chico is that I've started watching it ever since it came back on TVLAND & am really getting into it again. It's just a guilty pleasure I enjoy. It's made me realize how cute he was too... & I realized it's a guilty pleasure. One of those nice little pleasures where you can get away from your day for 30 mins & enjoy yourself... Neat story of meeting Freddie! If only I had the luck to meet famous stars but I'm not in CA LOL! I am glad to have meet the singer I am a fan of & have become friends with. He is so sweet. Becoming friends with a star, I found out they are nice folks & regular people too. Freddie sounds like a nice guy!

I agree, cheryl. Growing up in the NYC area, I was fortunate enough to meet a few famous people. A few are jerks, but most are really nice to fans. I guess they realize that they are who they are in small part because of fan loyalty. From what I read on the net here and at other websites, those who have had encounters with Freddie(like de de)have left me with the inpression that he was one of the appreciative stars. A very nice thought. It goes along with the nice guy image we have of him. Thank you for sharing your encounter, De De and continue to tell us more. I only wish we all could have met him.

Girl, why didn't you accept the ride?! And at least TRY to kiss him on the lips?! But otherwise, what a great experience to have had!!! I'm so so so jealous! I lived in LA for 7 years and never even saw a celebrity on the street! The man who did the voice of Tony the Tiger went to the same church, but that was as close as I got!
Ooh, the thought of Freddie in BLACK velvet! I always considered the blue velvet jacket on the show to be HOT, but now.... MORE MORE MORE MORE PLEASE!!!!!! |

Hey De De, thanx for the further installment! The drinks Freddie had sound like first a 7 and 7 (Seagram's 7 Crown and 7-Up) then a margarita (tequila and lime juice with salt on the glass). Not that I drink, y'understand
! I do know it's not a good idea to mix different drinks in one sitting--sounds like Freddie had more to worry about from the alcohol than the salt! Now, to repeat my questions from a previous posting, why didn't you accept the ride home or kiss him on the lips? |
