Eggs—— Brown vs. White

Among you egg eaters, does it make any difference to you?

Not really, but in recent years I buy Whole Foods eggs and end up with brown......

We get eggs from a local farmer that has range-free chickens.
The color of the eggs depend (but not always) on the feathers of the chickens.
White feathered hens lay white eggs and red hens feathered lay brown eggs.
We have even had "blue" or "green" shelled eggs.
The farmer doesn't know for sure what causes it or which hens lay them. (???)

Our granddaughter tells us that the eggs we have taste better then the store buy eggs.

I really can't tell a difference , but they seemed to be all white when I was a kid? Or was that the only ones my Mom bought ? Than when I started seeing brown eggs they fascinated me. Imteresting , Foggy about the different feather colors being the reason for the egg color. I always wondered why. And I have had those blue tinted eggs too purchased from a Farmers market. They are cool!

MOST of my life eggs were white and normally from my grandma's chickens, when we got them at A&P, always white....Change change it's guaranteed,,,,,

Yeah . Like with pumpkins . I remember when they always were orange. Than those white ( ghost ) pumpkins came in . Nowadays all different hybrid pumpkins. I still prefer the traditional orange , but those bumpy pumpkins, orange with green bumps all over them are cool !

The milk chocolate color of Cadbury eggs is the best (I do wish the caramel filled and chocolate filled flavors were more available).

Anybody ever eat duck or goose eggs? I've had duck . Interesting taste, stronger taste than chicken.

I use about a dozen a month. Don’t know if that’s considered a lot or a little.

Unless you were served eggs at someone else's house and they didn't tell you they were duck or goose eggs.They aren't sold in regular Supermarkets . At Farmers markets and they make a big deal out of advertising they aren't chicken eggs to get the curiosity sale. And they look different too . I'm trying to remember, it's been a while? I think the duck eggs are rounder than chicken eggs? I know they looked a bit different. And goose eggs I think would be bigger? I never saw or ate a goose egg.

I love eggs and sometimes I eat them for dinner

At the supermarket, more expensive eggs such as Cage-Free or Pasture/Range-Free tend to be brown eggs. Probably can not taste difference between brown or white eggs, but definitely can taste the difference between non cage-free eggs vs eggs that are cage or range free.

Also a side fact I just find out about eggs: One can store eggs un-refrigerated at room temperature if they are not washed.

I like eggs but somewhat prefer brown eggs only for when i cracked them , I find it easier to see if a shell has fallen into the bowl. Brown eggs are more expensive but I thought the color was due to the diet the chickens ate.
