In addition to Murphy Brown Candice Bergen also was the long running spokeswoman for US Sprint "Now Sprint today" And chances are if you were a Murphy Brown fan or grew up in the 80's you probably remember seeing these commercials on TV a lot. I don't know how Candice Bergen got chosen to promote US Sprint but it sure sold a lot of phone plans and attracted customers. Candice is actually pretty funny in these commercials which she was US Sprint's spokeswoman from 1986-1993. It seems that phone companies are the smart way for celebrities to get first starts in commercials for an acting or TV career. I mean look at what Pacific Bell did to the late actor Matthew Perry when he made his debut in a 1987 commercial and he went on to be a sitcom star with Growing Pains and Friends

How Candice Bergen got started doing Sprint commercials i'll never figure out? Because at the time Murphy Brown was a hit sitcom for CBS I think Candice wanted to focus on other things in addition to Murphy Brown and Sprint probably offered Candice Bergen a whole lot of money to be their spokeswoman. What other commercials did Candice Bergen do before the Sprint commercials?
