Yeah, I'd love to see those shows, even if Tony Orlando does suffer greatly in the gorgeousness department by comparison with Freddie--that aspect would make them hard
to watch! But I want to see if Freddie danced and/or sang--I think he was very talented at both, but those talents were almost totally unused on CATM. (He was accepted to the Joffrey Ballet school--and we've all seen his moves on the show! And check out the little bit of singing on his comedy album--there are hints!) Hey, guys,
I have a vague memory of Freddie being on Cher's old variety show -- the one she did by herself after her divorce from Sonny. There was some kind of light-hearted duet between Cher and Freddie and he did sing a little. Might be worth trying to find a copy on e-bay. |

thanks Flora for the information on Freddie being on the "Cher" show. vh-1 not too long ago showed her shows but they didn't show when Freddie was on there. But wow! that sounds like that was some kind of a show with Cher and Freddie singing together.can you remember what he had on?
he was always a nice dresser. |

i did e-mail vh-1 to please start showing the Tony Orlando and Dawn Show with Freddie being on there at least twice. i read the sketches online that freddie did on that show and oh! my do they sound funny and exciting to see. i hope everyone on this board will write to vh-1 and request for the show too. if they see a high demand, they may show it. that would be GREAT.

I thought he probably did, because on the few occasions on CATM where he sings a little bit of something like at the end of the episode with Jose Feliciano, it is obvious he can carry a tune. And on his comedy album there are bits of a couple of songs in the context of a joke, like the song "Tonight" from "West Side Story" which I think requires kind of a big voice to sing well--he just does the first two words (the title), and it carries huge!
That reminds me--in the "Lisa" episode, can anyone figure out what song he is singing while he's setting the table at the beginning? The stupid music they introduced at the start of season 3 covers it! |

Tracy,
Sorry, I don't remember what Freddie had on. I was about 10 at the time and I really didn't pay too much attention to details that seem important now! I just remember that I liked to watch variety shows and that "Chico" happened to be on this one. I seem to remember Cher had some kind of opening monologue where she said something about her show had been on the air for a year and no one had expected it to last that long. But I'm not sure if that was the same one that Freddie was on. I think VH-1 said her solo show didn't last long, so if there's some way to get a complete episode listing, it probably wouldn't take too long to find Freddie. P.S., Unfortunately, if TVLand is editing the "Chico and the Man" shows, VH-1 might have edited Freddie out of the Cher show. I'm not sure how long he was in it.
