Default Anyone see the USA Today article on Christian rock?

If anyone's seen it, what do you think? Is Christian rock breaking out or selling out? Are they being their own musicians, or are they sacrificing their message for $$$???

ah ha! Finally something I feel strongly about!!!

Okay I'm gonna come out and say it right away. I am a christian. SO that gives you the basis of my response. I think Christian Rock Music is the greatest. IT's a great way to spread the gospel of the Bible. Yes, I understand that like all musicans they do make a great deal of money. But before people think that christian artist are in it just for money and what not your wrong, IMO. How many people have actually been to christian rock concert? Well, I have! And at this concert they played not only their music but other worship songs as well.. And In the words of my Favorite Christian Artist, Toby Mac: " Hey Chicago, listen up here. This has been fun. But when you leave, I don't want you to leavce her with the The name Toby Mac in your mind, or mercy me, out of eden or audio adrenelin or any bands you heard here tonite. We are all her for one reason, and that reason is our Savior Jesus Christ. SO leave here with his name not mne or anyone lese. God Bless you all......"

Okay yeah sorry for the preaching but this is jsut something I'm Strongly for and often have to defend.

That's all a few of the people in my class listen to, and then some listen to country, and the rest listen to rap. I'm all alone in my little punk music world... As for Christian Rock...I dun like eet.

Angry re: Christian rock

I'm glad that there are Christian bands out there who are breaking the mold as to what Christians can say in music and where they can go and who they can play for, but let's face it, it's dominated by teenybopper singers who mimic the success of the Britneys and the Backdoor Boys rather than bands that grow up and PLAY their own music. Twenty years ago it was more professional and mature, but now the Christian music industry has forgotten those of us 30-somethings who just want to ROCK
or at least want to hear something actually MUSICAL. What a bunch of sell-outs. Now they insist that you MUST sing ONLY about Jesus if you want to be considered "Christian". It's not about seeing things from a Christian perspective (things relating to hope or anything positive or answers, etc.), it's JUST about religion and all that. Some of the brightest lights who have identified themselves as Christians such as U2, Bruce Cockburn,
King's X, the late Mark Heard, Collective Soul, P.O.D., etc., who don't rely on religious, "born again" rhetoric, are totally ignored
by the Contemporary Christian music scene.
