Post New Freddie Trivia

Some trivia about Freddie for ya- Freddie guest-hosted the "Tonight Show" several times
(the last being Nov.15,'76).He was the youngest guest host in the show's history.(19 or 20 the 1st time). As far as I know, this record still stands!Johnny Carson loved Freddie. On Freddie's Dec.'73 "Tonight Show" debut,Carson called him to the couch for an unplanned chat(new comedians were expected to do their act and leave). This only happened around 4 times in Carson's entire 30 years, and Freddie's was one of them! This was known as a career-making event, and it wasn't long after that Freddie was singled out for "Chico and the Man".
Someone mentioned Freddie's fascination with the Zapruder film. This is also mentioned
in "Time" magazine's Feb.7,'77 article on Freddie's death.Strangely enough,I still remember watching Freddie guest-host the "Tonight Show" and having a guest who wrote a book about the assassination.Freddie asked the guy if he thought there was a conspiracy and he said no.Freddie said,"you don't?" as if he was shocked!(don't remember what else was said).
I think Freddie dated Raquel Welch for awhile.Anyone else remember this?
I also remember reading that Freddie was being considered for the lead role in "Saturday Night Fever".Can you imagine the movie with him instead of Travolta? Very interesting! What a shame that it didn't happen!
Just thought I'd mention this trivia for your entertainment/enjoyment.

Didn't know about the Tonight show interview.

As for Raquel Welch, rumors were floated that the two were dating, but according to the Playboy article and other sources, Raquel had only asked to "meet" Freddie because he was the latest celebrity. The two of them met in a dressing room or something, and that was it.

Well, the National Enquirer pasted together two headshots -- one of Freddie, one of Raquel -- and fabricated a story that the two were an item.

Anybody got any other trivia???

It seems to me I remember watching a Tonight Show when Freddie hosted. It was a long time ago so I don't remember the content of the show, but the fact that he was a guest host does jog a memory. I watched Carson almost every night when I was in high school. Freddie would have been hot in Saturday Night Fever. We could have seen him dance more then. It's said he was a great dancer.

Oooooh, Freddie on that lit-up dance floor?! Yeah, bebe!!! I can see him in that white suit! Come to that I can definitely see him in the black bikini underwear, brushing his hair and flexing in front of the mirror!

He must have been a great dancer--he had been accepted to the Joffrey Ballet School just before he quit school for stand-up comedy (Oooooh--Freddie in tights!? Where's the bucket of ice water?!)

Yea, I've been to ballets and those tights do not leave anything to the imagination. A long cold shower time.

I saw that episode of Freddie on Johnny Carson. That was the first time I ever saw him and I fell for him that evening. It was a magical moment in show biz. I remember he was very funny that evening. Johnny really laughed at his jokes. I remember Freddie being a little nervous in the beginning then he warmed up. Then Johnny asked him to come over. He deserved that break! Luckily Carson saw how talented & gifted he was.

Let's see...Freddie loved his mother's homemade lemonade. He had a German Shephard and a Dobie. Also, he drove a metallic blue Corvette, and according to an old Rona Barrett mag I have, he liked to ply his dates with Courvosier(sorry for the tacky spelling), a very expensive brand of French cognac! He planted a tree for Kitty Bruce outside her father's home up on Sunset Plaza Drive. Freddie was a neat freak according to his mother's book.

I can picture him with that Corvette & wearing his velvet suit coat! Wonder if there are any pics of him with the car out there somewhere? A neat freak. He probably wouldn't liked me too well LOL!

Even (wouldn't this be great) wish there were some tapes of his stand-up act. He is just too hot. I wonder so many strange thins about him...like what were his favorite foods...favorite singers...yea know stuff like that
