Default HERE'S LUCY 3 Extras Revealed include "Make Room For Granddaddy" episode! I have it!

www.tvshowsondvd.com and MPI just revealed that the June 15, 2010 release of "Here's Lucy" season 3 will contain a one time aired episode of the super rare never syndicated short lived Danny Thomas ABC spin-off series, "Make Room For Granddaddy", the premise being Lucy Carter stays at the Williams household....sound familiar?, yes the same premise was used in an episode of "The Lucy/Desi Comedy Hour" when the Ricardo's rented their country house to the "Make Room For Daddy" Williams family.

UPDATE: 6/1/10: Well I got "Here's Lucy. Season 4" and just wanted to update and say "Can MPI keep topping themselves with these releases?" The answer seems to be a very big YES!!! The extra features disc literally is chocked full of so many unseen and rare gems that the disc alone could be a separate release. I spent 2 hours just watching the features and still have more to watch....my main excitement was the "Make Room For Granddaddy" episode....as I didn't remember this series at all...it is introduced my Margarie Lord and is a rare treat & delight...yes the premise has been done before and Danny doesn't really shine here, but just seeing the opening and full closing credits were exciting, which reminded me of a "Rhoda" type of style....you'll see what I mean.....Full 25 minutes and great vivid colors....it is followed by a St. Judes commercial and it really shows that this charity is doing some wonderful work. Other special features were Lucie & Desi Jr. on a color episode of "Kraft Music Hall" with Robert Young & Jane Wyatt....typical 10 minute skit about parents & children, but a rare and crossover delight for collectors......the B&W Desi Jr. Christmas eve appearance on "House Party" is brief but very sweet. Two different color Lucy themed appearances from Jack Benny specials including Lucy lip-syncing to "Hey Big Spender" and another featuring John Wayne & George Burns are treasures! The syndicated promos are great as they give you a brief 10 minute view of the entire season and there are tons of behind the scenes rehearsal footage showing Lucy as quite the perfectionist and professional. Including Desi Arnaz appearing on set, yes during production of "Here's Lucy" sharing the stage with Gary Morton! The Arnaz Estate and MPI are releasing the definative collection and certainly are giving fans plenty of extras including full unedited episodes of this series for a bargain price....Please support these releases as you can tell they are being put together with tender loving care....and for the fans!

I have no affliation with MPI or the Arnaz estate and write this as a professional opinion of the upcoming June 15, 2010 release.

Great Extras!

Once again, no Gale Gordon on the cover! Wouldn't you think they would put a smaller picture of him on the side, saying co-starring Gale Gordon?

I was wondering the same thing. At least one of the extras on the set is about Uncle Harry! So they're showing Gale Gordon some respect anyways!

I understand what you guys are saying, but these are beautiful family publicity shots that are being used for the covers and Gale's role was not real blood. Plus as an original viewer of the series, you must remember that Desi Jr. was a real "Tiger Beat" heart throb.....it made much more sense that Marcia Brady's two celebrity crushes were Davy Jones & Desi Arnaz....BTW...when Davy made his appearance on "Brady" his career was stalled, but Desi was hot to young girls and for the boys Lucie was quite the cutie, as shown in all the pictures....the cases are supposed to bring attention to consumers while browsing store aisles and good old Gale Gordon isn't exactly eye candy or a fond memory of a teenage crush to someone now in their late 40's, etc. Plus if they photoshopped a photo of Gale, then there would be a crowd yelling that the picture is phony, as I have read many complain here when companies tamper with original photos. I personally think all the covers have been filled with beautiful extremely colorful and vivid photos that show the family being real.

Lastly don't forget these releases are being handled very carefully by Desi & Lucie in every detail and it's only natural that egos would prevail. Not a knock, just reality......think about when you look at a large family photo of lets say 20 people and you were in it, who would you look at it first?.....the usual answer is yourself.

that is AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I always wanted to see that episode

(which recalls the episode of The Ann Sothern Show, with Lucy and Katy scheming--would have made a great extra on a I love Lucy set)

And about the cover--this is season 3, the last season with Desi Jr. So look for season 4 to most likely have Gale on the cover.

Another thing I've noticed watching the first two seasons is how Mary Jane Croft really isn't too much on the show at this point.

According to her credits on IMDB.com Mary Jane Croft only appeared in one episode per season of Here's Lucy much like Vivian Vance.

Well, imdb.com is a user interface like Wikipedia, so you can't always go by it.

I do seem to recall she was indeed a regular during the later years (much like The Lucy Show).

I have no complaints. MPI is constantly raising the bar with these releases of Here's Lucy. The cover art has been beautiful on each release so far. Gale will probably start appearing on the releases for seasons 4-6 since Desi Jr. was no longer a cast member. People may not remember what a big deal it was at the time for Lucy to be working with her real-life children.

To have the multitude of bonus features is just icing on the cake, considering we have beautifully-restored, uncut episodes with vibrant color.

Wasn't Gale Gordon an "AARP" heart throb?

Good Point TeeVee, and don't get me wrong I think all the covers are top-notch, I just think its unusual that a co-star/series regular isn't on the cover, at all, 3 times in a row. But he should be by season 4 since Desi Jr. is gone by then.

I love the cover for Season 3. Very excited for this set.

I do think this pic will wind up as a cover pic for one of the final 3 season sets.

I sure hope it does, I think this is a great picture and probably my favorite of Lucy and Gale together.

I certainly do remember a publicity shot of all 4 of them together that was used for syndication ads in TV Guide in the '80s--that could have been used!

But anyway, season 3 is also the highest rated of all the seasons (#3 for that year)--when Desi Jr left, season 4 dropped to #11--could the teen idol effect really been that huge for Lucy's ratings? most likely......and by the final season when Lucie herself cut back her appearances, the ratings tumbled to #29--I know I certainly had a big crush on her Now, I'm not saying Desi Jr and Lucie are the ONLY reasons ratings were up and then down, but I do believe they had some sort of effect.

You are correct. Mary Jane Croft was in MANY episodes of Here's Lucy, from the third season on.

Actually, there were plenty of publicity photos of the series that included Gale Gordon. So it's strange none of them are being used for these DVD covers. Besides, that picture on the season three cover was taken in 1968, so it isn't even time appropriate.
