I don't want to pry, but i was just curious if there are many people on this board that frequent bars. Is there anyone that frequently goes to the same bar (similar to the characters in cheers).
In the meantime those that do enjoy going to bars, do you go with other people or sometimes alone, do you frequent the same bar or whatever's avaliable. Also for those bar fans do you only go to a bar to get blitzed or do you guinely go for a good time. Just to drink a little not to get drunk but just to enjoy yourself. I am just curious to find out the bar experiences of others, and to see if anyone enjoys a cheers lifestyle. Cheers

Well, as most of the folks here at Sitcoms Online know, I have been known to frequent a bar or two. Or three or four, depending on my mood.
I would say I have been a "regular" at several bars in my drinking career, a few when I lived in NJ and now a couple here in NYC. Being a regular has it's perks, the bartenders know what you drink, you rarely have to wait to be served, frequent free drinks, you're the last to be thrown out at closing time, plus I have established some friendships with the folks who work at these places outside the bar atmosphere. Plus I have become friends with many of the other regulars as well. I have totally bought into the whole Cheers idea of a bar with friendly people you can go and feel welcome. |

I buy into the whole Cheers idea as well. I used to go every Sunday to the same place to watch football and we had quite a fun group that ended up going every Sunday. We'd route against each other and make bets, have pools etc.. it was a blast. Sometimes, I'd never pay for a single drink
I'd never go alone, that's for sure. It's impossible to go out and not get hit on all night. It's fun if you can find a place that is Cheers-ish because it does have its perks. Once you know the bouncers and bartenders, they can get rid of anyone who's bothering you. Since I've gotten a little older, the only bar I frequent anymore is a fancy wine bar near my house. |

I enjoyed my Cheers lifestyle for a couple of years. When I was stationed at a Naval base in Norfolk, Virginia, I used to frequent the same sports bar every weekend. It was a good place to unwind and feel at home.

Thanks guys
I am not really a big drinker so i don't really frequent bars. I do occassionally go to the on campus Uni bars. But i would hardly call them bars. I think it would be kewl to have a bar where everybody knows your name. Even if its just like some of you guys a once a week thing. A place to go and get away from the pressures of life. But i would only do it as a thing to relax, no as a place to get blitz and drunk Cheers guys |

Yup, I'm a regular at a bar downtown. I had lots of fun things happen to me...read my story...
At the bar I go to, there is a skirt-chaser bar owner, a waitress who makes fun of people alot, a mailman -- who's really smart but annoying, a former baseball coach and a bar patron who doesn't really like his wife. But then a smart blond woman walked in and she and the bar owner fell in love, but they didn't admit it. Until one year later, they began dating and then a year after that, they broke up, the blond woman left for six months, then we found out she was in an insane asylum, she returns after the bar owner became a drunk again, when she returned, she wasn't alone, she was with a psychiatrist, her new boyfriend. Then a year past and the psychiatrist and the blond woman went to Europe, they went to get married and the bar owner was a little p/o'ed he went to Europe to stop them, but he was too late, but the blond said no to the psychiatrist and left him at the alter, after the course of six months, the baseball coach died, it was really sad, but then six months later, a naive young bartender from Indiana came in, he was pretty dumb and really funny. the blond returned again after the bar owner found her at a church, the psychiatrist came back also, over the next year, nothing too interesting happened, a year later, the bar owner proposed to the blond, she said no. he got mad. after that, the bar owner didn't like the blond too much, but the blond said that she was going to be proposed to again, he did after she cryed and she said no! Then they went to court and the bar owner was forced to propose, she finally said yes. the curly haired waitress was pretty mad, when the big day came, the blond had an offer to write a book! She deicded to leave and come back in six months to return to the bar owner. The bar owner was really sad, so then he sold the bar and bought a boat, then a really mean owner lady manager woman came in, six months later, the bar owner's boat sunk and he returned! The curly-haired waitress was getting married also! To a hockey player! The bar owner got a job at the bar and then a few weeks later, we see a side of the mean manager that no one ever saw, she began crying and she finally came down to earth, meanwhile, the psychiatrist had a relationship with another psychiatrist, they then got married! the other psychiatrist woman was really weird looking and had no veins, but anyway, the bar owner tryed to hit on the manager lady, but she didn't want him, they almost got it on once, but then a multi-millionaire came in and she started dating the manager! Months later we find out that the millioniare only wanted the manager to find out things of her company, in the meanwhile, the hockey player died and the barowner wanted the bar back, the manager's company found out about the millionaire and then the bar owner told them that it was the millionaire, he then got the bar back for a dollar! the manager was mad since the millionaire went to jail, but then she was happy, after that, the weird looking psychiatrist was pregnant! She gave birth to a baby! After that, the millionaire came back from jail and went to marry the manager, but the manager left her at the alter, he said okay and left with a money belt. the manager was sad, a few months later, the bar owner decided he wanted a baby, so he went to the manager, they did a whole bunch of times, but she never got pregnant. they decided to stop ... meanwhile, the naive bartender got a girlfriend, a rich one. they finally got married -- but with lots of errors. after that, the manager found out that the weird looking scary psychiatrist was cheating on the psychiatrist! she left in an eco-pod. the psychiatrist was very sad, it was just him and the baby. after that, the weird looking psychiatrist came back, right when the psychiatrist and the manager were going to sleep together! the two psychiatrists came back together, about a year later, the bar owner went to sex-counseling, but then his one love, the blond woman returned after six years, he argued with everyone and said he was going to marry her, also the manager got marryed to a plumber, they then decide not to, the blond woman leaves, but the bar owner realizes how lucky he really is-- because of his friends. the next six months, nothing really happened except that the psychiatrist left the weird looking psychiatrist and then he moved to seattle, where he now lives with his dad, no one really knows what goes on there, its not like they are on tv! Interesting things do still happen there, boy, if my life was a tv show! |

I do tend to go to the bar far more than is healthy. In fact, I've been to the Cheers bar in London and sat on 'Norms' stall, something I am very proud of...
![]() Have they ever had an episode where the Cheers team have entered in a pub quiz? (Pub quizzes are a common occurance one day of the week in many British pub - usually the prize is a proportion of the entrance money or access to a free bar. Since the Cheers bar is a mock-up of a British bar I just wondered....) |

I couldn't tell you where it is, I was led there by a group of friends and I'd already been in about 6 bars before hand so any chance of remembering the way vanished a few pints earlier.
EDIT. I've just googled, heres a link to the location: http://www.viewlondon.co.uk/view_rev...ar&ReviewID=94 |

In Cuba Missouri off of Route 66, there is a bar/club called Loose Ends. I used to go there alot when I was 20. By the time I was old enough to legally attend, I was burnt out. At 26 I go there few, far, inbetween, and for friends. It is a fair bar that plays local bands. But it is all about the drugs. It's a shame.
