Default To those of you who have watched both this show and the show it was based on…

I have some questions:

1. Did All in the Family ever remake any episodes from “Till Death Us Do Part”?
2. Did the Maude Findlay character ever appear on the original series or was she created exclusively for the American version?
3. Did The Jeffersons ever appear on the original series or were they created exclusively for the American version?
4. Was Archie Bunker a lot more racist and bigoted than Alf Garnett?
5. Was the wife in the original series dimwitted like Edith?
6. Did Alf and his son-in-law frequently argue like Archie and Mike did on All in the Family?

I watched/listened to the first season. Only seven episodes, several were lost episodes I listened to audio, although I think more original video has been found recently. I left some notes about them here:

Your questions:

1. The third Til Death episode is the basis for the AITF pilot episode - the anniversary.

2. There is a visit from "Aunt Maud" in the third season. It's on YouTube:

https://youtu.be/pqsXiX5jKxQ?si=TjqhunC0L_W-qiev

She reminds me more of Maude's Mrs. Naugatuck than of Maude herself.

3. There's no Jeffersons equivalent in the first season. I don't know beyond.

4. Archie's attitudes follow Alf's pretty closely. There are places where you can see the AITF writers rewriting Till Death dialogue to fit American issues.

5. Else, "the silly moo", is closer to the Edith in the AITF pilot. Not brilliant, but with a streak of sarcasm.

6.Alf and Mike fight all the time, and it even got physical once in the first season. On the other hand, Mike doesn't have much of a career. He and Alf can drink to excess together at the pub, and even travel together for a football match.

I've been meaning to get back to later seasons, and maybe will do so soon.

Ok, thanks for the information. I’ll try to watch the “Aunt Maud” episode later. And I’m disappointed to hear that there’s no “Jeffersons” in the original show.
