Angry Something Richard Dawson said about Jim Nabors! It Makes me so Mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey there all! You may think I'm being overly emotional but here it goes.
On match game 1970-something there was a question that went like this:
So and So has zero since of humor because blank is his favorite comedian.
And Richard Dawson said Jim Nabors!
Ooooooh, OOOOOOOh, OOOOOOOh!
That makes me mad!
And first of all Nabors isn't really a comedian! Sure he does some skit were he acts like a hick but that doesn't make him a comedian!
YEEEEEEEEEEeesh!

Goodbye, Goodbye, Goodbye!

It's not overly sensitive.I too would take offense if somebody insulted or made fun of someone I like or love. And Richard Dawson was never hot shakes as a comedian!(Chuckle)

i don't think you're crazy to be insulted, either. jim nabors is very talented, not only on TV but also as a singer. all richard dawson is memorable for IMO is hitting on all the female family feud contestants. survey says yecchhh...

Yeah, Becky! At least Jim Nabors doesn't hit on every girl he sees! At least he's polite and proper to everyone. And I love hearing him sing! What does the survey have to say about Jim Nabors's singing? You have to have 200 points to win! Survey says....

TO BECKY W.

Becky peace! I really (swear to God I'm not trying to be wise or nasty) think your comment is a little inappropriate. Mr. Dawson only greeting-wise kissed all those women hello on Family Feud. He did not hit on those women like you said. Are we really supposed to assume that he's an incredible casanova (this guy is English not Italian or ,second best French). He is not very good looking or even incredibly suave. All he really could offer all those women is money (it's not a great title to be Mrs.Richard Dawson). And he kissed hundreds of women throughout the show's run (further proof that he didn't hit up on all those women) ranging from young and beautiful to old and ugly. What would he want with old hags. And when it came to Celebrity Family Feud he didn't even have much cash to offer already rich actresses like Yvonne Craig or Meredith Macrae. Furthermore Gene Rayburn of Match Game often kissed women who came on his show and he rarely if ever got accused of being a casanova hitting on women.

PS Did you see Yvonne Craig in the new tv guide (celebrating Sci-Fi channels' Batman marathon)Her hair is real thinning out on top. Yvonne really looks like she has a receded hairline. And she looks even better now than when she had all her hair.

what i said about richard dawson was a joke, a joke which i made in response to HIS joke about jim nabors. i wasn't being completely serious, or trying to be totally accurate. it was meant to be funny. i'm sorry if you misunderstood that. i really have nothing against richard.

although, on a serious note, i personally wouldn't want a strange man kissing me on the lips and calling me "darling", regardless of who he was, his intentions or how many women he had done it to before. it would just make me feel icky, and that's what i consider inappropriate...

No, no. Don't feel bad. I'm upset now but it's not you it's Dawson. Jim is a wonderful person I just LOVE watching Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C. and one reason is because Jim is on there and he's one of the best characters around!!!!! I love Jim like all his other devoted fans do and I say don't worry about Richard Dawson! Jim does a WONDERFUL job of what he's doing and he doesn't need someone backing him down! So don't worry, I'm TOTALLY on your side!!!!!

Gomergirl,
I realize I'm jumping into an old discussion here. Sorry (This is my first time ever on this board.) But, I think you over-reacted here. What Richard Dawson did was -- make a spur-of-the-moment wisecrack which said, essentially, in so many words, the exact same thing *you* said in your original post: Jim Nabors isn't a comedian.

Had it happened today and the question was "So and So has zero sense of humor because *blank* is his favorite comedian.
And the panelist said, for instance, "Luciano Pavaratti," it would be no more insulting to Luciano Pavaratti because . . . because he isn't a comedian, either.

And, by the way people, Richard Dawson happens to be one of the funniest and most clever game show hosts/panelists ever. That's not to say that THIS was the funniest or most clever thing he ever said!

Is this Richard Dawson you all are talking about, the same Richard Dawson from Hogan's Heroes?

Jenny,
Yes, that's him. After "Hogan's Heroes," he appeared many times as a panelist on "Match Game" and was the long-time host of "Family Feud."

Gomer rules ! Dawson is a BIG MOUTH with lips that have kissed so many . I wish the Germans had kept him in Hogan's Heros.Jim is so talented and has a good sense of humor and is far above Richard Dawson. Danka Schon to Jim Nabors (oh by the way Richard Danke Schon means thanks you in German.)

Thank you Ricky!
I am not overreacting! I just happen to like Jim Nabors! You would react the same way too.
Let's say that someone insulted Brittney Spears and you happen to like her, you would probably act the same way! And Thank you Jenny!

Actually Richard was a dumbass compared to Gomer.

Robert,
You know -- I had a feeling that a mature, intelligent reply might be a big waste of time here.

Thanks so much for illustrating that my hunch was a correct one.

Later,
Art

P.S. Don't hold your breath waiting for my check.
