David Schramm Starred in Two Sitcom Premieres the Same Week
April 19, 1990 was when the classic Wings sitcom premiered. It only had 6 episodes in season 1. Three days before that on April 16 he was also in the Working Girl TV remake of the movie playing future Oscar winner Sandra Bullock's father. It aired Mondays at 8:30 following a relocated My Two Dads, which moved to leadoff after ALF's series finale had aired in February sweeps. Working Girl on TV never had a chance airing mostly against Newhart's final episodes of the series. Too bad as it had a great cast, also starring Nana Visitor before Deep Space Nine, George Newbern before Father of the Bride, and Anthony Tyler Quinn. But if Working Girl had succeeded, what show would David have been in first position on? (the show he would be required to stick with if both were picked up) Both airing on NBC, they might have let him do both. But if just one probably would be Wings from the Cheers producers. Working Girl sadly had 4 unaired episodes out of its 12 episode order.
