Hello,
My spooky Unsolved Mysteries story: One night (about 10 years ago?), I was coming home late from college, intending to stop at the US Bank's ATM and take out some cash, but my brain was on "automatic pilot" and I came home without stopping. When I got home, I was feeling tired and so I decided to grab and snack and watch some TV for a bit before going back out. Flipping through the channels, I stopped at an Unsolved Mysteries episode. (Not something I normally watch --* Sorry *-- I've seen a total of about 1 1/2 hours worth ever.) In the spot, a college student named Matthew (my name) went out late one night to a bank's ATM and disappeared -- abducted and robbed, from what could be seen through the ATM's camera. He was staying with a Teresa and a Steven (the names of my sister and brother), and his mom and dad came down from Oregon (where they and I live) to help search... I decided then that, well, maybe I would just not go out again that night, and go to the bank the next day... (Some time later, I stopped again while flipping through the channels and it was an update of that same incident: He was found dead.) Could anyone help me find this story? (It is possible not all of my details are correct.) Sincerely, Matt Chambers, Milwaukie, OR |

I know which case you're talking about. The name of the victim was Matthew Chase. His disappearance took place in June of 1988. Although his body was eventually found, the identity of his killer (or killers) is still unkown.

Wow...that IS weird! Stuff like that has always intrigued me...did anything else happen after that, things that related toi your name, etc? As John Edward (psychic) says, there are no coincidences. Makes you wonder WHY that happened to you? A warning? LIfe can be weird.

Thanks for the comment. One reason that I would like to get the tape of the show is to see just how many similarities there are, and how many differences that I don’t remember. (I have written some of the people on this board, but no luck yet, and I haven’t found it in the Lifetime schedule.) I think the new detail – that his last name was Chase – is interestingly and similar to my name, for example, and now I’m curious as to whether his middle name is similar to mine (Bradley)…
I am normally a big believer in coincidence – especially when millions of people are watching a given program – but I am also curious enough to wonder how strong this one is. As for whether it has any ‘meaning’ or ‘purpose’, it is probably impossible to say: Since I decided not to go to the ATM that night after all, I don’t know if something would have happened or not. --Matt |
