Did you know that 4 months after Barney Miller was cancelled......
the show won an Emmy for Best Comedy Series in September of 1982? The show never won an Emmy until it was cancelled

It wasn't actually cancelled. Danny Arnold ended production because he thought they had run out of new ideas. Hal Linden interview:
