Default John Ratzenberger Joins Dancing with the Stars!

JOHN RATZENBERGER JOINS ABC’S “DANCING WITH THE STARS”

John Ratzenberger will make his ballroom dancing debut in the fourth season of “Dancing with the Stars,” returning MARCH 19 (8:00-10:00 p.m. PT) to ABC. Following Vincent Pastore’s withdrawal, Ratzenberger has nobly stepped in to take his place. Show producers had previously extended an invitation to him to participate this season, but a scheduling conflict prevented him from accepting until now. He takes on the added challenge of having less time to train than his fellow competitors before the series premieres – two weeks versus four.

Ratzenberger’s most prominent recent work has been as host and producer of “John Ratzenberger’s Made in America,” and as author of the new book, We’ve Got It Made in America: A Common Man’s Salute to An Uncommon Country. The beloved actor starred in the classic television series “Cheers” and in ABC’s “8 Simple Rules.” He is also the only actor to have voiced a role in all of Pixar’s feature films, including “Finding Nemo,” “The Incredibles,” “Cars” and the upcoming “Ratatouille.” Edyta Sliwinska, the only professional dancer to participate in all four seasons of “Dancing with the Stars,” will be his partner.

“Dancing with the Stars” is the U.S. version of the international smash hit series, “Strictly Come Dancing.” This version is produced in America by BBC Worldwide. Conrad Green and Richard Hopkins are executive producers and Izzie Pick is co-executive producer. Rob Wade and Matilda Zoltowski are supervising producers. Alex Rudzinski directs.

"Awesome news" !? You're joking!

14 years after "Cheers" ended, almost without exception, that show and those characters are the greatest things all of those actors have done or will ever do. Being on a rather elaborate game show hardly ranks as "awesome" - pathetic is more likely.

I'm curious to see Clavin boogie! Another incentive to watch this season! My first was the lovely Shandi Finnessey of PLAYMANIA and LINGO (not to mention Miss USA) fame.

The older stars have done well each season. The over 50 stars John O'Hurley, George Hamilton and Jerry Springer all got pretty far, with O'Hurley of course getting into the championship during season one.

While I do agree that Dancing With The Stars is pathetic, Cheers cast members have been successful.

John Ratzenberger has voiced a character in every Pixar film.

Ted Danson has had supporting roles in such films as Saving Private Ryan, had a semi-successful sitcom that lasted five years, and has been a recurring actor on Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Woody Harrelson was nominated for an Academy Award for The People Vs. Larry Flynt, and has been in other such critically-acclaimed films as A Scanner Darkly and Natural Born Killers.

Kelsey Grammer had a sitcom that lasted eleven seasons, which I guess one could argue can't be separated from his Cheers success, since it was a spinoff. But come on, he's Sideshow Bob!

And even if none of that was true; even if Cheers was the end-all for every single cast member, that's still pretty damn good. Being on Cheers is better than I'll ever do.

Oh hush. Dancing with the Stars is waaaay better than American Idol. When do those singers pay their dues to get where they are at???? Don't bother answering because it is a rhetorical question. I don't go hating on the American Idol threads, so I will leave my comments abt that crap show here.
