It was a great episode, but after Lilith did that to Frasier, I never looked at her the same way.

That episode is great, but I think that that was the beginning of the show's downfall into oblivion. As I recall, Cheers was basically put into a stupid situation during it's last season in which the writers refused to come up with new adult comedy, and went to slapstick instead...which didn't work. I recall 2 episodes which were totally unfunny. One was when Carla was blown away by a giant fan, and ths second one where Carla gets trapped in the furnance. They basically gave the show a bad name.

Yeah, but it wasn't all Lilith's fault!

I mean, personally, I'm frustrated with the writers for how they handled the whole situation. Did they have to make her leave him like that? If Bebe wanted to leave the show, couldn't they have done some kinda mutual trial separation between Lilith and Frasier, to make it "feel" better?

I LOOOOOVE Lilith, she's my absolute favorite character on the show by far (and the one I find the funniest), but this two-parter just doesn't feel 100% "real Lilith". I mean, she barely had any humor in the whole hour, and she always has (at least) a few hilarious lines in most of her appearances.

And when she says, "I think I'm in love with him," (meanin' Dr. Pascal), that's one thing, but when she adds, "I'm leaving you"---that just is not Lilith. It's too cruel and heartless and witchy!

*SIGH*

Well, I just had to vent that. All other Lilith episodes and appearances are priceless ("Oh my God, someone died, didn't they?"-- ), but this two-parter just wasn't all there...

If you think about it, the writers didn't really have to do anything to write out Lilith. Over the years, there were a lot of episodes where Lilith didn't appear. So it would have made total sense for her to just stop coming to the bar as much. Especially since she said she hated coming to the bar.

I agree that season 11 isn't the best. There were a few funny episodes like the one where Cliff thought Hitler was living in his apartment building and Bar Wars 7. But then you also have episodes like "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad Bar" where, as callmetootie wrote, the show became complete slapstick and not like it was at it's best.

Yeah, that's so true...and just sad that they didn't do that. Maybe they felt that since Lilith was the least used character of the main cast, they really wanted her to take the show and go out with a bang---unfortunately, not the good kind.

And did Lilith actually say in an episode that she hated coming to the bar? I don't remember her sayin' that, but that'd be funny if she did...

Yeah, ya know what? I think that after Woody and Kelly's wedding, the absolute most HILARIOUS hour ever on "Cheers", they should've ended it then.

season 11 was my favorite. although i didnt like this 2 parter. i also think lilith was too sappy. she was never like that. she didnt even talk the same way- her voice was very soft. i hated it. but i guess thats cuz i never really cared for lilith nor frasier...

IMO, Season 11 was the best season.

The episodes where Lilith left Frasier were funny, but agree that they shouldn't have had her leave that. She could have been home, like in previous episodes. But this lead to lots of funny moments, like Frasier's deep voice saying "Lilith..." and the two-parter "Is There A Doctor In The Howe?" and "The Bar Manager, The Shrink, His Wife, and Her Lover"
