IIRC (and I do, I just checked) Martin Mull appeared in MHMH as bad guy Garth Gimble. For the Fernwood 2Night spinoff--which was really just MHMH's summer replacement--Barth Gimble was supposed to be Garth's twin brother.

Also, "FERNWOOD 2NIGHT" was set in Fernwood, Ohio the town where "MHMH" took place.

Default Yes....

....the idea was for Martin Mull (as "Barth Gimble") to front a satiric talk show, featuring "Fernwood"'s weirdest residents and "local talent", as "MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN"'s 1977 summer replacement. When "FOREVER FERNWOOD" [the continuation of "MARY", without Louise Lasser that fall] collapsed after 26 weeks, the "FERNWOOD 2-NIGHT" format returned to replace it in April 1978- again with Mull, and Fred Willard returning as "Jerry Hubbard"- as "AMERICA 2-NIGHT" {this time, supposedly originating from the fictional "Alta Coma, California", identified as "the unfinished furniture capitol of the world"}. That version lasted another 13 weeks before it ended that June.

As usual put perfectly, a few side notes, celebrities played along when the "show" went national from Alta Coma, CA...so each episode featured a real celebrity, unknowns also got their start such as Gary Coleman was a semi regular, as well as Robin Williams. Why doesn't Antenna TV finally give "MH, MH" it's due and run it let's say weeknights at midnight, so anyone after the age of 40 can relive those great memories, it is a Sony property.

Default Antenna TV...

....is a digital cable channel service of New York's WPIX-TV, who primarily programs their schedule from Sony's vast Screen Gems/Columbia/T.A.T./Embassy Television library. You'd have to contact Tribune Broadcasting [WPIX's parent] and/or Sony to suggest that "MARY HARTMAN, MARY HARTMAN" be resurrected on Antenna TV. There are 325 episodes of "MARY", 130 of "FOREVER FERNWOOD", and 65 episodes each of "FERNWOOD 2-NIGHT" and "AMERICA 2-NIGHT"....if they're willling to schedule them at, say, 11pm or 12am(et) for an hour each weeknight, why not?
