Is TV changing its image and will it get better or worse?

I have noticed that TV is changing it's image and I seem to think it has gotten worse instead of better and I can't figure out the cause of it. Take for example in TV today you can't find any good sitcoms and it seems that today's sitcoms are not as good as they used to be. Take for example in the 90's we had sitcoms like Seinfeld and Friends that were great sitcoms and in the 80's we had sitcoms like Family Ties and The Golden Girls but if you watch TV today you won't find another Seinfeld or Frasier or Cheers and it seems that today's sitcoms lack humor and witty storylines. Second if you watch TV today in dramas it has become so hard to find a drama series worth watching. Because it seems that drama series on TV has become unappealing and in the 80's and 90's we had drama series such as Matlock and L.A. Law and if you look at TV today today's drama series have become so unappealing. Like yesterday my mom watched FX's The Bear and she found it so unappealing she gave up watching it and why Paramount+ has Mayor Of Kingstown in a third season is beyond me because it's also an unappealing show. But you'll never find another The Closer and Monk in TV dramas today. Reality shows are also changing and the same thing with game shows because if you watch Survivor today you'll notice that the challenges are now puzzle based and not what it used to be and game shows have adopted a new image as well because if you watch today's game shows such as Press Your Luck on ABC the contestants that appear on there have stories such as "my family wants to visit Florida and I need money to go there" or "my brother needs a new car and I want to help him by winning money" and I remember when game shows would audition contestants with happy stories to tell and the game shows were fun to watch. But if this is the way people look at TV shows today I think this is why today's TV shows lack witty storylines and great sitcoms and fantastic dramas

There are some shows I like. I enjoy Abbott Elementary, Ghosts, Night Court (revival) and Accused. Not all shows from the 80s and 90s were great. You look at some of them now and they haven't aged well. I look at Seinfeld now and then but I want something different. I don't just want jokes all the time. I want a good story. Comedy is changing because not every sitcom needs a laugh track. (the only one I see is Night Court revival) I like my comedy subtle. There are still some shows on streaming that worth seeing. You can't keep things the same or else it'll be boring.

My parents and I were discussing this topic yesterday which made me create this thread and my mom agrees with me that today it is hard to find good sitcoms and shows on TV. What I think it is that the networks don't give the shows good promotion anymore especially sitcoms. Like take for example every time NBC has a new sitcom they promise that the sitcom will be a hit then after five episodes it's cancelled with no reason given. But I think if sitcoms were improved with funny storylines and characters they would be hits. But my mom has been impressed with two drama series Reacher and Resident Alien and she wasn't sure she'd like those shows but she fell in love with them. But in reality shows I think they have become weak because you used to have shows like Survivor and The Amazing Race but now you see reality shows like The Real World The Bachelor/The Bachelorette and the only surviving reality shows that score big ratings are Survivor and The Amazing Race and Big Brother and I cannot also figure out why America's Got Talent and American Idol and The Voice get giant ratings and keep surviving in TV. I guess these shows have a huge fanbase and that's what scores them big ratings. I think TV shows need a huge improvement in order to keep people watching

The Connors is closest to what TV used to be in the 1990s, but yeah, TV isn't what it used to be. Between the writer's strikes, reality TV and streaming, very little original American television content worth watching.
