Which do you like better, Unsolved Mysteries or America's Most Wanted and why? Or can't you choose?
IMO, AMW is a little more edgier and "hip" in its direction. They have a lot more urban cases, too. UM is more suspenseful due to the music and Stack's voice. It is more engrossing as a result. Of course, AMW doesn't have Lost loves, Treasure, Paranormal and other non-crime related cases (which a lot of UM fans detest!). But I think one of the best parts of UM is how they update. Usually they'll show an entire case without any prelude of it being solved and an update will come out of nowhere! Personally I'd rather be locked in the library of UM than AMW. |

I like UM better because I like the stories better. I think it is a better all around show.

People who have a thing against the stories of the paranormal or fortune or families reunited are people who want a wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am show, where the answers are concise, a lot of deep thinking is not needed, feelings don't need to really be discussed ("they're law-breakers, and we need to catch them, and that's it."), and a quick and decisive solution is the response required. Personally, I find this kind of outlook quite limited, and absolutely boring. I've never been really interested in AMW simply because their stories don't have the element of the unknown and unexplained in them. They also don't have a never-ceasing eerieness to them....it's obvious some guy did a bad thing, in AMW. In UM, you glance over your shoulder and wonder if someone's watching you, and if there's more than meets the eye.
UM is simply more interesting. |

I like both and have watched both as long as they've been on the air but UM wins with me!!! AMW used to air more stories of the missing, or more heartflet stories but now it seems geared at street-racing thugs and gang activity. I much prefer the mind boggeling cases of UM.

I love both shows, but I discovered UM first.
AMW is more direct and faster-paced, wanting results in an instant. They are also more on the ball with updates. UM is slower-paced, and has become notorious for it's creppy music. The cases are more in-depth, and it's noticeable when both shows cover the same case, for example: Hazel Head, Desirae Lingo-Perkins, the deFransisco sisters, Craig Pritchert & Nova Guthrie, and William Bradford Bishop. AMW only covered how the Bishop family died. UM started the case off with the discovery of the bodies, how they were identified, and the discovery of the crime scene. I also liked how they interviewed the guy who not only last saw Bishop before the murders, but also encountered him in Italy 3 years later. Talk about a small world. But yeah, I anticipate both shows. They rock. |
