Show lasted too long - Sitcoms Online Message Boards

It ran all the way until 1972. By the time it ended My Three Sons had scripts I think that were closer to All In The Family than the Father Knows Best scripts the show had originally been about. Depressing last year.

and honestly the show wasnt that great either.

The good thing about the long run was that we all grew up with the Douglas'. Well not me, I wasn't born until 1981. It's just that when the show starts, Chip's a young boy. By the end of the show he's married. I believe he eloped with Polly. But you see those characters graduate and get married and become fathers, themselves.
