If you follow sports religiously, then you have more than likely seen a player develop into one of the best of all time and then leave via free agency. Whether it be players like LeBron James leaving Cleveland (the first time), Peyton Manning leaving Indianapolis, Tom Brady leaving the Patriots etc, what player turned legend ended up leaving your team?

In Baltimore, we really haven't had any true legends leave except Ed Reed and Terrell Suggs, but there were some in recent years such as Manny Machado and Joe Flacco who were cut or traded.

I remember the Atlanta Braves trading Dale Murphy to the Philadelphia Phillies in 1990. The Atlanta Hawks traded Dominique Wilkins to the Los Angeles Clippers in 1994.

It's not exactly the same scenario, but it involves someone who became a legend. Brett Favre was drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round with the 33rd overall pick in the 1991 NFL draft. He only attempted four passes in his one season at Atlanta, was intercepted twice, and completed none of them. They foolishly traded him away to Green Bay in 1992. The rest as they say is history. Atlanta might have won a Super Bowl or two with him.
