Default When was the last time you ran out of patience with someone?

When I worked in retail, my patience with customers/guests was very thin to begin with. They were rude, inconsiderate, treated you like you were trash. That's when my patience for people in general died. You?

Why just today I ran out of patience with myself. I am sewing and cutting fabric and I was going to make a boo boo.

I said to myself, "Jane, you ignorant slut what are you doing to that fabric".

Then the voice back said, "Dan, you pompous ass...."

Yeah , working retail can be rough. Been there done that ! Jobs in general when you have to put up with cr*p to get a needed paycheck. Right now I work elderly care just part time. It gets hard dealing with people who are physically or mentally not that well due to age . I wpuldn't be able to handle a 40 hour a week of it being I'm not too young myself anymore . I would snap and lose patience!

But in answer to this thread, just this morning , both my Hubby and I weren't in the best of moods , and we had a few pretty loud words to each other !

I never run out of patience, mainly because I have none to begin with.

You and Millions+ share this one, truly pathetic and YOU are Proud of it....

I would sum it up something like this: East Coasters = UpTight

West Coasters = Fairly Laid Back, but Principled...

March of this year, I ran out of patience with my brother criticizing everything I do and trying to enlist our sister to join him in attacking my lifestyle.

I didn't scream at them but I did raise my voice and called them hypocrites and they should mind their own business. I managed to calm down after awhile and the rest of the weekend was better.

Never have, if I feel I'm getting close I back away from the scene. Patience is one Emotion I have worked to achieve a lot of.

I have a similar problem with my brother. He enlists his wife to team-up with him to make decisions that affect me, over my preferences. Also he criticizes me for things that are no different than how they act, the hypocrisy you've alluded to.

Ignore and distance yourself, that really ticks them off....it can work in your favor, why get so upset....Now if they are carrying a weapon, then a different strategy is needed...

I've forgiven them but only for my well-being. I just choose not to spend a lot of time with either of them.

My brother is in a nursing home now and I don't visit. I live with my sister-in-law who is very supportive and kind.

It really sucks. I'm sorry that you had to deal with that.

When elderly close relatives are in their final days, ignoring and distancing are not options in a small family. Medical care, hospitalization, life support, funerals, wills, etc. all required my presence. After my dad's death years ago I had to visit our attorney's office 18 times or so.

More to the point, when my uncle died my brother rushed his viewing & funeral over my objections -- he died on a Thursday morning and we finished with his funeral, burial, and post-funeral "dinner" by Saturday afternoon - just a couple of days. This was an uncle I lived with for over 35 years.

Afterward, I had people who'd known him angry that I hadn't informed them he died. Because of my brother's rush-job decision, it was impossible to do so - hardly 2 days to attend to everything I had to arrange, including driving down to meet with the cemetery people.

Probably less than one-third of the people who would've attended the dinner came. My brother's wife took ALL of the leftover catered food and gave it to HER relatives.

I've had end of life conversation with a good friend of mine and he reminded me that millions die and what has to be done gets done one way or another....millions die with no families etc.....Working thru all this is very hard on those left behind...

Funeral business is a huge lucrative business.....

I believe it's the Jewish faith that has a tradition of "quick" burials....or cremations of go with the rules of Jewish.

This all reminds me of a friend and their mother's funeral ---cost like $30K to put their mother in a huge vault, at a huge catholic cemetary....

Then my dad when he was dying I asked him how he wanted to be buriend and he said "he didn't care".....turns out my sister had made arrangements to the tune of just under $10K, that's the time too when my dad said "he never believed in a supreme being".....
