Default Anything you take a stand against out of principle, though it does little good?

Is there anything you refuse to do just out of sheer principle even though it likely does little to no good at all?

For me most of the things are updated things related to technology that threatens the things that have always given me joy

I REFUSE to stream ANYTHING, as streaming has really hurt cinema and movie theaters... Seeing a movie in a movie theater is a big pleasure I've always gotten out of life, I love the whole experience, the getting out of the house, lining up, getting food, etc... I always look forward to going to the cinema on my weekend off from work. I only streamed ONCE, it was when Hocus Pocus 2 came out and I was pissed it didn't get a theater release and I loved the movie when I was a kid and really wanted to see it, so I subscribed to Disney Plus literally long enough to watch the movie then unsubbed lol

I 99% of the time refuse self check-out, I could be wrong but I think they put REAL CASHIERS out of work and I think the concept of INTERACTING with other HUMANS is dying, which is sad IMO, It's sad no one wants to talk, smile, or be friendly but be in their own little world, just trying to get in and out as fast as possible... Sometimes though I DO cheat if there are only like 2 or 3 human cashiers and they are lined up across the store and I only have 1 or 2 items.... BUT I'm always hearing people say, "I love self check-out, that way I don't have to talk to anyone, look at anyone, I'm in and out in 5 minutes with NO HUMAN CONTACT!" And I think that's really sad people have that attitude these days

No DoorDash, or anything like that, for the same reasons, another pleasure I look forward to is a nice meal out and it seems dine-in restaurants are getting less and less popular, people just wanna GRAB their food, then BACK TO THE HOUSE for more streaming

I do or abstain from things out of principle all the time.

Does it change the world?

No, but it does make me feel better.

I use less and less Technology, fought it when I was first put in front of a "puter" over 30 yrs ago. I've had to adjust. Just heard more movie theatres closed down in TX.

I can remember when all this STUFF was pushed, many of us said "what if it all blows up"....

Self-gender identification does not change biological gender--
I WILL NEVER CHANGE MY PRICIPALS --no matter how much the world embraces it!!!

Since you said essentially you'll NEVER change your mind no matter what, I guess it does little good talking to you about it, BUT I will offer some insight, mainly because I am trans.

*My personal story*
When I was as young as 7 years old back in 1987 I knew there was an incongruency between my gender identity and my sex which is Gender Dysphoria. I would DEMAND that I was a girl and get really upset if anyone referred to me as a boy. People told me I was demanding I was a girl at age 3. Everyone in my family was against it, no one groomed me. The leading theory as to why some people are born trans is due to hormone washes we receive in the womb during development.

*Insight*

But on to what you said. It sounds like you don't understand the difference between sex and gender. Sex is a collection of biological traits, while gender is more of societal construct and refers to how we interact in daily life and is collection of social roles and expectations we put onto people based on their sex. Are the Sex and Gender related? YES! But they are not one and the same and never have been.
Male and female refer to Sex, while Man, Woman, Boy, and Girl refer to Gender.

So we kinda ALREADY do self-ID with everyone... When you're interacting with random people on the street, in shops, etc in daily life, you have no idea what their sex is, their chromosomes, their genitals, etc... All you really have to go on is their Gender Presentation. So if I meet a random person and he tells me he is a MAN, I just take him at his word and am like "Ok COOL, you're a man!" And from MY perspective, for as much as it concerns ME, he is a MAN. And I think this is how 99% of social interactions work. I've never seen anyone say, "Wait a minute, you SAY you're a woman, but I suspect you're male, I'm gonna needs to see a BIRTH CERTIFICATE, before I call you a woman!" Social interactions would be ABSURD if we operated like that. We interact with PEOPLE not with chromosomes nor what's in their pants. I think it's sad when people think the entirety of their interaction with someone boils down to what's in their pants

If you were meeting Buck Angel for lunch, he was born female but is totally indistinguishable from a male now, and he was at the restaurant before you and you told the host, "Yeah I'm meeting that WOMAN over there!" The host will not know who the hell you're talking about, he'll be like "Woman?! What woman?" But if you say, "I'm meeting that MAN over there" life goes on as normal. So, see, there is SOCIAL UTILITY in treating gender as a social construct.

Much like a NAME, if you tell me your name is Bob, I'm just gonna take you at your word and be like "Cool then I'll just call ya BOB!" and if you tell me your're a man, for as much as it matters to ME, you're a man!

Trans people are basically saying we just want to be SOCIALLY recognized in the SOCIAL category of "woman" or "man" And there's nothing about this that goes against Biology, Science nor reality. Biology does not care how we SOCIALLY interact with each other. If someone born MALE with a penis wants to be called Emily, referred to by She/Her pronouns, wants to be SOCIALLY recognized in the social category of "Woman", and socially treated as a woman, etc What BIOLOGY are we thwarting by honoring that? If I hold the door open for Emily who was born male, has XY chromosomes, and a penis and I say, "After you, Ma'am, LADIES FIRST!" What LAW OF SCIENCE have I broken? No where in Biology does it state, "If you were born with XY chromosomes and a penis, you are MALE, thus you are a MAN, thus you HAVE TO USE He/Him pronouns and you have to know how to change a tire and change oil. You won't even find the words "man" and "woman" in any Biology text book because those refer to Gender, and Gender is Societal not biological. Neither Science nor Biology gives a CRAP what you call someone nor how you treat them. There is no such thing as "MAN BIOLOGY" or "WOMAN BIOLOGY"....as man and woman are SOCIAL categories

Also according to EVERY major medical organization in the world, treating trans people as the gender they wish to be treated like is best for their mental health, and NOT treating them as the gender they identify as and trying to FORCE them into a role they hate being in is very BAD for their health. So yeah I don't know what it cost you to simply BE A DECENT HUMAN BEING and call someone what they wish to be called and treat someone how the wish to be treated.

So as far as what I posted about, I'm ALWAYS opened to being convinced, if you can convince me that streaming is better for the world that seeing a movie in a theater, I'm open to changing my mind on that. As far as treating trans people as the gender they wish to be treated, all DATA and all evidence shows it's BETTER for the world, it has more social utility and not doing so is actually WORSE

I believe that I will be able run the 100 meter dash in 5 seconds yet the USA will not put me on the Olympic track team.

You believe that you are a girl yet you are not, and can never be one. You can make believe you are one, but you can never be one. Your problem is not in your body, but in your mind. I don't know the solution. I don't know if there will ever be a solution.

I am sorry if the above sounds callous, but we have seen the insanity of what the supposedly 'tolerant' have done to society in order to get their way.
