What I wondering was why they didn't they have a wedding with Richie and Lori Beth on Happy Days to end the 1979-1980 season??? I know that it would have been nice to have seen Richie and Lori Beth getting married on Happy Days instead of having a phone wedding in the 1980-1981 season! Another question is,are phone weddings legal??? I just know that if Joanie and Chachi had a real wedding for the final episode of Happy Days, why didn't they for Richie and Lori Beth at the end of the 1979-1980 season???

They probably would have had a Richie/Lori Beth wedding episode, or at least had a final episode showing Richie & Ralph leaving for the army, if they had known Ron Howard would not be returning for the 1980-81 season. I heard that his decision not to return came unexpectedly during the hiatus after the 1979-80 season.
Actually, the "phone wedding" show wasn't really that bad, it could have been a disaster but the actors really saved the episode. It definitely would have been much better if Ron Howard had actually guest-starred, though. |
