"Dexter" Prequel Series Adds Four to Cast as Production Begins

The upcoming "Dexter" prequel series at Paramount+ with Showtime has begun production in Miami, with four new series regulars joining the show. They will playing younger versions of characters from the original series.


- James Martinez (Love Victor, House of Cards) will play Angel Batista, described as “an up-and-coming homicide detective who leads with his heart.”

David Zayas originated the role.



- Christina Milian (Step Up: High Water) will play Maria LaGuerta, Miami Metro’s first female homicide detective.

Lauren Vélez originated the role.



- Alex Shimizu (The Blacklist, S.W.A.T.) will play Vince Masuka, “a forensic analyst who eagerly shares his expertise while relishing the chance to boss around his new intern, Dexter Morgan.”

C. S. Lee originated the role.



- Reno Wilson (Fatal Attraction, Bel-Air) will play Bobby Watt, Harry’s longtime partner and confidant.

This is a new role.
