Default Gilligan turns invisible

The episode where Gilligan turns invisible was never shown until around 1980. That's what it seems like. I used to watch the show for years and I never saw that episode.

I think he gets struck by lightning at the beginning, while he's bowling. Later the professor covers his head in a giant clay covering and he scares the girls.

Does anyone know why this episode was never aired for a number of years?

That doesn't sound right -- why wouldn't they rerun that one episode? I think maybe you just kept missing it....

actually....when he turns invisible, the professor wraps him up in lead-soaked strips of cloth....making him look like a mummy...and he scares the girls.

Yeah, the clay thing was in the episode where Gilligan "breaks" his nose. Love that one...

Well, I used to watch the reruns in the 70's on my local network affiliate (before we had cable). I watched it religiously from about 1975 to 1980, and I never saw that episode. I saw all the other episodes, many times over.

So maybe my local station didn't have access to that episode.

...So, after I saw that episode for the first time, I remember telling my older brother and his friends (who were in middle school) about it.

They laughed at me like I had made it up: "What are you talking about!? Gilligan never turned invisible!"
