This new 2024 release has different artwork/packaging and has 12 discs. It looks like it doesn't have any bonus features.

There's nothing new on this set. It just has the episodes. The Shout! Factory release from 2014 has the bonus features. This press release is incorrect.

My concern with this is that it will mirror what is streaming on Tubi TV. Both parts of The Drop In’s from season 4 are missing about three minutes apiece. Beau’s Jest is the version with Mr. Kotter absent. However the end joke from The Fight from season 2 is restored whereas it’s missing from the Shout set. Anyways, I wonder if it is going to mirror the Tubi versions.

This new set sounds like it's a budget set because it only has 12 discs which means there are more episodes crammed on to the discs. To compare, the complete set from Shout Factory has 16 discs.
The set from Shout Factory isn't perfect but it's pretty good and I'll stay with that one. As far as I know, there's four episodes on the Shout set that have edits. The edited episodes are: The Fight Kotter And Son Sweathog Back To School Special Barbarino Blues |

Were you able to solve the problem with the freeze up? Could be a faulty disc or maybe an issue with the DVD player.
Some DVD players are very sensitive and if a disc has the slightest speck of dust on it the disc will freeze up and stop playing. One of my DVD players is like this. Very sensitive if a disc has even the smallest speck of dust on it. When this happens I have to remove the disc from the player and clean it off, re-insert the disc and then it plays OK. |

So you chose the streaming option. Have you watched episodes of shows on the Tubi website? Tubi is free and you don't have to pay for anything, the one negative is there are ads and commercials that you have to tolerate. It's basically like watching TV on the internet. I prefer having DVD's but if a show I like isn't available on DVD and Tubi has it, sometimes I'll go on there and watch a few episodes.
