Today (June 1) is the the Second Annual National Game Show Day.
https://blog.sitcomsonline.com/2024/...nd-annual.html There is sadly no National Sitcom Day from what I can see. What type of programming and events would you want to see? What would be a good day to celebrate it? Mary Kay and Johnny was the first sitcom broadcast on a television network in the United States. It premiered on November 18, 1947. November 18 might be a good day because it was the birth of the sitcom. There are a few related days and months (courtesy of Days of the Year). April - National Humor Month - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/n...l-humor-month/ April 19 - Humorous Day - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/humorous-day/ April 28 - Clean Comedy Day - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/clean-comedy-day/ October 15 - National I Love Lucy Day - https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/...day-october-15 November 21 - World Television Day - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/w...elevision-day/ December 23 - Festivus (Seinfeld) - https://www.daysoftheyear.com/days/festivus/ |

Good topic TJ!
Yes considering that was the first Sitcom to come November 18th seems logical. However NICK at NITE started the entire Classic TV Sitcoms in Primetime and all NITE on July 1st. So perhaps that would also be a great date to celebrate TV Sitcoms. Staying on the topic of NICK at NITE they use to air Classic TV Sitcom Countdowns December 26th thru December 31st with the number 1 Sitcom airing at 11:59 with 59 seconds going into January 1st so that might be another great time to celebrate. What date did General Sitcoms Message Boards start? Why did it start that date? Perhaps that’s when National Sitcom day should be. It should air episodes that make you laugh and have all problems resolved in 30 minutes or less. Perhaps featuring Sitcom episodes that were there number 1 episodes during there Series Run. Plus Bloopers & nothing says Sitcom than a TV Sitcom theme song! |

Unger Day, November 13. I think it's the most prominent day actually used in sitcoms.
Start by honoring the sitcoms that finished #1 in the ratings: I Love Lucy (4 seasons, 1952-55, 1956-57) Beverly Hillbillies (2, 1962-64) Andy Griffith Show (1967-68) All in the Family (5, 1971-76) Happy Days (1976-77) Laverne & Shirley (2, 1977-79) Cosby Show (5, 1985-99) Cheers (1990-91) Seinfeld (2, 1994-95, 1997-98) Friends (2001-02) Big Bang Theory (2, 2016-18) |

Maybe a National Sitcom week. I dont think its much you can do in one day.
Maybe chose the best eps from top 5 sitcoms from each decade in a 24 hR marathon. The first 12 hours would cover 50's to 80's and the last 12 would cover 90's to current |
