Angry Shows that have gotten Reran to death!

What shows have gotten reran to death?

Starting this week The Larry Sanders Show will air on Bravo 10 times a week as well as 2 times a week in NY Syndication and until recently reruns aired on HBO Comedy 5 times a week (But was recently replaced by Curb your Enthusiasm).

That's certainly Overkill....

Default TV Land Does It, Too

TV Land is the worst at doing overkill. I think we can do without "Happy Days", "Taxi" and "Gilligan's Island" ten times a day! Once is enough. There are too many sitcoms worth repeating.

One or two airings a day is just enough, IMO, on any network.

'Happy Days' 1 airing Monday-Friday, Saturday-Sunday on WGN; 4 times a day, 6 days a week on TV Land

'Leave it to Beaver' 4 times a day

'Beverly Hillbillies' 4 times a day

'Felicity' will be airing 3 times a day on WE, same with 'Two Guys and a Girl,' but not everyday (yes, they just started, but still...)

'X-Files' will be airing 10 times this week on Sci-Fi and on TNT 3 times a day

'Law & Order' airs on TNT 5 times a day, give or take an airing each day (it alternates between 4 airings and 5)

'Brady Bunch' will be airing 4 times a day on TV Land

'Gilligan's Island' airs 3 times a day on TV Land

'Cosby Show' airs 4 times a night on Nick at Nite, 1 time on WGN and 1 time on TBS

'Saturday Night Live' airs 6 times a day on Comedy Central, and 3 times a day on E!

'MASH' airs 8 times a day on FX

'Sister Sister' airs 4 times a day, give or take an airing

So, a lot of shows air constantly. Taxi only airs two times a week on TV Land, it's hardly overplayed.

Saved by the Bell- Even though I like the show, I have probably seen each episode a hundred times. It has been on TBS for ten years now.

I use to think that USA reran 'Wings' too much, but then I became a fan of the show and was glad.

I agree that TV Land shows the same shows over and over again. 'Happy Days' is shown four times a day, and 'Perfect Strangers' is not on the lineup at all. Maybe I'm just bitter that my favorite shows are not on TV Land.

M*A*S*H- Although it's leaving soon, FX shows M*A*S*H six or seven times a day.

Saved By The Bell got overplayed in the 90's.

3:00-4:00- TBS

4:00-5:00- WGN

5:00-6:00- My local WB station.

It got played 8 times a day!!!

It's still somewhat overplayed. I see 4 Saved By The Bell episodes everyday. 2 from TBS, and 2 more from KDOC.

But I'm not complaining!

I Love Lucy is just run to death. Some shows there are explanations for like MASH on F/X. It is owned by 20th century fox, which owns FX so they dont have to pay to air it, therefore, it fills time nicely. Nick at Nite owns many of the shows they air all the time like Mary Tyler Moore and some shows like Lucy just are owned by nobody therefore they dont have to be paid to run. You can tell shows that NAN does not own because they are the ones that appear and reappear like Dragnet, Leave it to Beaver, Green Acres, My favorite martian, Different Strokes and Dennis the Menace. They periodically go off because Nick loses the rights to them and has to renegociate all over again. The shows that get played to death like Lucy, the Honeymooners, and Dick Van Dyke are the ones that are free to the network. I suppose sometimes its not about the best lineup but the cheapest one. Nick is owned by Viacom, which owns CBS, so almost any show that aired on CBS nick can run cheap or at no cost to them. The problem is that CBS has had thousands of shows from the twlight zone, to Alice, to One Day at a Time and so on. There is still no excuse to put the same ones on over and over. By the way, the show that I am the most sick of is Family Matter, followed by Full House...UGH!

I think these shows are repeated to death:
1. M*A*S*H
2. Married with Children
3. The Cosby Show
4. Fresh Prince of Bel-aire
5. Happy Days

The Brady Bunch - for such a crappy show, it should be gone.

The Cosby Show - I like the show, but NAN should tone down.

Taxi - Barely reran, it should be reran more!

I don't have a problem with Cheers (tied for my fav show) and Happy Days, I don't think HD is reran too much, I don't remember the schedule for Wings when it was on USA.

Sorry to disagree with some of you, but I Love Lucy is hardly rerun to death. Sure, it aired on Nick for years, but then it was treated like crap, now TV Land was treating it good, not it's being treated like crap all over again. ILL airs only 2 times a day on TV Land, so I really don't call that reruned to death..

The problem is some of these networks go way overboard...
I heard a radio promo this morning announcing that TBS is showing back to back episodes of Friends, Seinfeld and Drew Carey every day now...

Please, enough with the back to back crap. I love these shows, but you're killing me here!

I Love Lucy is owned by Paramount. N@N/TVLand does not air the 'free' versions many low power independent stations air. They get the ones from the people who own it. You can tell because the one the indies air are in terrible quality but on N@N they are a lot clearer.

And networks can't just air stuff because it was on the network that is part of their company (CBS). Yes, Twilight Zone is owned by CBS. But One day at a Time is owned by Colombia Tristar/Sony. And they DO have to pay for them equally. FX got in a lot of trouble for airing 20th Century Fox shows (M*A*S*H) and not paying as much as say N@N would pay.

Thanks for the info. I never watched enough I hate lucy to see the differences in quality but I will take your word for it. As far as owning and not owning, I know that a network does not necesarily have rights becuase they ran the show orginally but NICK is owned by Viacom and they do own many shows outright, certainly more than they run now. Besides, as much money as Viacom has, negociating the rights and paying companies should not be as much of a problem as it is now.
