Default Flintstones in My Three Sons out on METV

It's been awhile since METV made a weekday programming change (about a year), The Flintstones are replacing My Three Sons at 6:30 am Mon-Fri. This add may be in conjunction with METVToons which starts at the end of June. Weigel can use the now ninety minute cartoon platform to promote the new network. Toons is going to get a big push, obviously one of the existing networks will be switched, the question which one. My original thought was Story but that network may not have enough clearance, it could be Catchy Comedy.

I think they will probably stick with Catchy and switch out Story, Movies! and maybe METV+ in local network markets that are not owned by Weigel. Right now, Story has a 162 affilitates and METV Toons has less than 50 lined up. I also don't think the Story network has really caught on with the general public.

21. MeTV 631,000
25. Grit 513,000
46. Bounce 253,000
58. Cozi 196,000
60. Start TV 190,000
67. Heroes & Icons 169,000
74. Laff 151,000
81. Defy TV 130,000
86. Antenna TV 114,000
90. Charge 102,000
91. Comet 101,000
92. Get TV 91,000
103. Catchy Comedy 69,000
114. Dabl 53,000
126. Story 40,000

Not a big difference, but Catchy probably has the better potential to pick up more viewers.

I agree with your comment on Story, I didn't realize it had 162 affiliates so that makes it a real possibility.

Why are they taking MY THREE SONS off? Why can't they take off 1 telecast of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER and air MY THREE SONS in its place?

That's a mistake. They should've just moved MY THREE SONS to 8:00 and taken off 1 telecast of LEAVE IT TO BEAVER.

Looking forward to Me-TVToons but I don't want to lose Movies!, Catchy Comedy or MeTV+ -- I watch all of those (as well as Me-Tv and H&I) a lot.

Movies! should be given a PR boost -- they do a great job of being the broadcast TCM.

Story would be the one to sacrifice -- I watched at first but it soon got repetitive.

(I wish MeTV could steal away Bewitched, Jeannie and Munsters - they belong at Me)

I also like Movies!, but I think it has even less viewers than StoryTV, which is surprising. I think the only way to help Story gain more viewers, would be to invest into more original programming, but with the big investment they (Weigel) are putting into METV Toons, that is probably not going to happen right now. Weigel could split the network feed between local affiliates who carry Movies! and Story Television. In the daytime, the local station could carry METV Toons and at night it could switch back over to Story Television or Movies!.

If METV Toons reaches the launch date with less than 50 station affiliates, there is a good chance it won't be a success.

Leave It to Beaver has a bigger following than My Three Sons. What I don't understand is this, why not just air Dragnet at 5:30 and drop the second showing, move My Three Sons up to 6am. Dragnet only has 98 episodes so the series cycles through in less than 10 weeks.

So disappointed to see that My Three Sons was taken off! Totally agree with others who say that Leave it to Beaver ( also a good show) doesn’t need a full hour and they should have moved MTS to one of its time slots or earlier in the morning but to completely take it off!!! The kindness on that show is something that we need more than ever during these times. Please programming people at MeTV I sincerely hope you reconsider your decision. There is truly so much garbage on tv these days, especially in the summer when kids are home it’s nice to have something like MTS which still has issues that are relevant even if some things are dated- but that makes it fun too. Hope it comes back on!!
