Default Is there anyone else who still thinks of Jack Tripper when they look at this show?

I have watched the first two shows of 8 Simple Rules for dating my teenage daughter and when I see John Ritter i still think of jack tripper. I can't believe after 18 years, he stills sounds and acts like jack. On the other hand, Katey Sagal sounds different, looks different and acts different. I can't say the same for John Ritter.

Totally. I think that's the case with every actor we see for the first time. No matter what else they do, they will always be "fill in the blank".

Hooperman looked like Jack Tripper as a cop.

Hearts Afire was Jack in politics.

This looks like Jack after he had a family.

I think when someone stars in a sitcom for 8 years-it's hard to not think of their previous character when they star in another comedy. Maybe if he was in something serious, then maybe the thought of jack would leave our mind. I don't ever think John Ritter can ever play in another comedy without me thinking of Jack-especially comedy.

Sorta. It's like Jack, but cracking jokes to his kids, instead of Chrissy and Janet. And, both girls are like those 2 characters too. To me, anyways.

He just reminds me of a older Jack Tripper who settled down again and being with Vicky and now is married with two kids and lives in a different city

I think John Ritter has done a good job preventing himself from being typecast as Jack.

I miss his Jack Tripper character. I wish for one show they would have one of his roomates guest star like Joyce DeWitt or Suzanne Somers.

Believe it or not, I don't think of John Ritter as Jack Tripper in this show. I think that for this being a family show, there is some massive dysfunction in this family. The three kids are the next Jack, Chrissy and Janet.

Whenever I see John Ritter in something other than Three's Company, it's hard not to think of Jack Tripper. Probably because that's the first character I saw him as, and probably my fav, too.

That's ALL I can think of when I see him.
And now, when I watch Three's Company, I think.... he goes on to have a FAMILY.

I think it would have been really cool, if his character on 8 Simple Rules WAS Jack Tripper.
