I don't when this story appeared on UM's, but it was in one of the 80's ones. It was I believe back in 1982. This woman had just given birth, I think and she went to the maternity ward to see her baby for the first since it was born, just then this woman i can't remember what she said but i think it was something like "your baby is beautiful" then the woman who had the baby said "thank you" then the family i believe it was were walking out of the hospital, then the same woman who said to the woman who gave birth how beautiful her baby was, was outside the hospital, then woman who was outside the maternity ward, quickly walked over to the family, put a gun to the baby's head and threatened the mother that if she didnt give up she baby that she'd kill it, so the mother and she never saw her baby or the woman who stole her baby again. I know that this case has never been solved....as of yet, but it still creeps me out!! anyone ever hear of this case. I've always wondered what happened to the baby and kidnapper.....

Yeah, I remember that case- and since many others in the hospital had seen the kidnapper, the police believed the new mother's story and tried to find the kidnapper and the baby. I always hoped they'd find them and lock the kidnapper away in a cold cell the rest of her life- she seemed to be a person born of evil! I pray that the one day that that girl finds out the truth and gets back to her real mother so she knows that she owes the evil one nothing!

I remember it too. How heartbreaking that must be for the mother.

I remember it. Its tragic for the mother, but all you can really do now is hope that they are reunited someday.
And also hope the baby grew up and had a good childhood. But somehow it seems hard to believe that someone who committed such a brutal viscous kidnapping would give the baby that. |

Hi Lu,
You're thinking of the Marlene Santana case. It was a very sad story. Marlene turned (or would have turned) 25 last October. I haven't seen it in years. She is still missing. I often read her story on Charley Project, and I will post her missing person's web page here: http://www.charleyproject.org/cases/...a_marlene.html |

You wonder how after twenty-six years that the woman wouldn't have confessed to the little girl OR somehow the girl never found out.
, but the girl probably was raised in a nice home (not knowing she was kidnapped, so brutally). |
