Default The care and handling of Hazel's age by both Baxter brothers

I thought the way George Baxter handled the delicate subject of Hazel's age in the season 1 slumber party episode was done with the utmost dignity and kindness whereas in season 5, Steve Baxter spent almost an entire episode griping about Hazel being "old" and at one point she even called him out on it! "are you calling me OLD?". I was like "wow what the heck happened to this entire show?!"

Never thought about that. George handled that situation very well.

From the outset Steve thought he was going to get the upper hand with Hazel. Instead she turned the tables and gave him her "rules."

George was a lot more mature than Steve. And Hazel dished out a lot of crap to George on his weight. I know she was only trying to take care of him, but she could be annoying on this point. George was, after all, the breadwinner and head of the household, though Hazel certainly acted like it. Don't get me wrong, though, I love the character of "Hazel"!

I would have liked to hear George say, in response to Hazel's weight comments, something like, you're a fine one to talk about MY weight! YOU could lose a few pounds, too!

Hazel was on a sock-changing kick a lot of the time as well.

In the final season, when she counted how many pills were left in the jar to check up on Steve, I thought that was a good example of going a bit too far. If she were his mother, okay. But of course she wasn't.
