Default NOT Coming Back...

Apparently, from what I've been told, TV Land lost the rights, so it won't be coming back. The same with Taxi (Nick at Nite had Taxi from 1994-2001, where it went to TNN, and then TV Land picked it up after the contract was renewed for a year, but this November, TV Land loses the airing rights to Taxi). So the same thing obviously happened to Laverne & Shirley and the Odd Couple. Although, I'm not too sure about The Odd Couple, but it seems likely TV Land lost the rights to air them as well.

I don't understand why some shows come and go so quickly on TVLand. Just when I get used to tuning in an old favorite, they vanish.

Why oh why must I put up with this torture?

I wonder why they would take off a show if it only aired a couple months, and then TV Land would pull it off and then it would vanish, if it is true, I think some other network should defiantly pick it up. Just when we think the best of things will happen, the shows that were on for a couple of years or months they suddenly leave. I *hope* TV Land would renew the rights but I guess from the looks of things, it isn't going to happen.

Well, Nick at Nite aired it for a while, then it moved to TV Land, so there was probably not that much "time" left on the contract. Anyway, just before it was taken off, I was actually going to start recording it (not realizing at the time it would be taken off), but then decided not to, because I figured it be around for a while. Yeah, right, LOL.

I personally have no idea if TV Land or other networks can just renew a contract. Postmaster Steve at TV Land said "it it were as easy as just renewing the contracts, we would" or something to that effect. But TV Land/Viacom did renew Taxi's contract for one year (and that ends this November). So, who knows. I hoped it would come back. Normally, I'd say, I hope it goes to TNN, but I sure don't want that to happen, the EVIL BLACK BAR, lol.

Yeah, We Wouldn't Want That To Happen! (Why Do They Even Put That Bar There?) I Wish They Would Bring Laverne And Shirley, I Hope Someday They Do

I think we should not jump to conclusions. The Bob Newhart Show and Gomer Pyle, U.S.M.C. have just returned after a hiatus, I think it's quite plausible that Laverne & Shirley may return in the near future. TV Land may have just put it on the back burner for awhile and may fit it in the schedule at a later date.

Well; the reason I posted not coming back is because I've been lead to believe that TV Land lost the rights. TV Land brought Bob Newhart Show and Gomer Pyle back because they still have the rights. But, I do hope your right and it comes back.

I have to go with boechsner, maybe we are jumping to conclusions after all "Sanford and Son" is returning again to TV Land in 2003, which has long since left the TV Land schedule, so there is possibility that "Laverne & Shirley" might return.

Well, Sanford & Son was RE-AQCUIRED, it was not on hiatus. I think L&S is on hiatus or they lost right, I am not sure. I know for a fact they lost the rights to The Odd Couple.
L&S is not listed at all through the end of December, no box sets, specials (not even Merry-thon), nothing.

When I saw that you posted the last message on the L&S Board, I was hoping that you were informing everyone that L&S was coming back to TV LAND but that wasn't the case. I tought for sure it was apart of a boxset before the end of the year.

Believe me, CiB, I would never post any type of show information without some truth to it. I talked to Pav about L&S a few weeks ago. I still see TV Land lists L&S as one of it's shows (a show that is still listed usually means TV Land still has the rights). So, maybe it is on hiatus, but I was just going with the information Pav gave me, and I only posted this thread because several posters were wondering when or if L&S were coming back. BELIEVE me, I want it back too, LOL.

I was just trying to state a point. I know pavanbadal is not 100% sure if TV Land has lost the rights, but it *could* be on hiatus which I think is th best answer to go with for right now.

I think "Laverne & Shirley" dosen't have a chance at coming back, and by the looks of it, I think TV Land has lost the rights to the show. I guess will just have to wait, maybe it will show up, without any notice, lol.

No it has been there. They lost rights. It's official. They lost it back in June.
