The streaming service used to count watching 70% of one show episode or a movie as a single view. Now watching just two minutes is considered a view. "In the case of The Witcher, the two-minute qualifier means those 76 million accounts could have watched no more than 0.04 percent of the season's 474-minute run time," says Rick Porter. "Is that actually what happened with the show? Almost certainly not. The point is that with Netflix's new math, it's nearly impossible to tell." ALSO: How will we know who's winning the streaming war if every service counts views differently? |
