Angry 73 Million AT&T Customers’ Info Found On Dark Web

AT&T confirmed that personal information of its 73 million current and former customer have been breached and leaked into dark Web. The exposed data, believed to be from 2019 or earlier, contained sensitive information such as names, addresses, birth dates and Social Security numbers. I used to be AT&T customer, so I guess all of my personal information is out there for every one to see.

It makes me kind of mad. Companies that you do with business with request your personal information and they always say keeping your privacy and personal info is their top priority. But then they turn around and share your personal info with thousand other vendors because one's personal info is a commodity and they make money off of it. And that is probably how the personal info got leaked.

So next a company said that your privacy is their top priority, take it with grain of salt.

Wasn't there another AT&T thing gone bad and now again. How I escaped AT&T I don't know, but never had it, maybe location where one resides, I don't know. I've always had my local Pac Bell phone service and changes have occurred but still the same local now big company....my two connectors are Verizon and AOL..

If these companies took better care of thier networks and not made them so easily accessible online, this kinda crap might not happen!!

Funny how this didnt happen in the 80s!!!

I been with AT&T for over 30 years, first for a phone land line and then switched over to their DSL internet service. But recently switched over to Verizon home internet due to At&T price increase and lack of improved internet speed. AT&T used to be largest telecommunication company, but now they are behind Verizon and T-Mobile in terms of customers.

I think the problem is with the third party they share customer information with as they are more easily hacked. Here is an example:

If you order a new phone case from Amazon, your data is then shared with the third-party delivery company that’ll deliver your package. Meaning, that Amazon customer information could be leaked if the third-party delivery company is breached.

The third parties--and all of the sellers other than Amazon itself are third parties too--are a problem. Plus what Amazon permits them to do with our information we share with Amazon which in turn is shared with their sellers.

And we wonder where the spam comes from. Just an email address is a valuable asset.
