I used to think both TV land and Nick at Night were great back when they had shows like Car 54 and some others but now they are just horrible. They have access to thousands of shows but show the same ones over and over and over. I mean funny or not (and its debatable) how many times can you show Mary Tyler Moore or Dick Van Dyke or I Hate...I mean Love Lucy. Then whenthey put a show on, its usually something like Coach or Cheers or Roseanne. I mean these were ok shows but I get them like 99 times a day on other channels, and as for ANdy Griffith or The Brady Bunch about 134 times a day. Why on earth dont they put something on that we don't see all the time somewhere else? Some shows run fora few weeks...(SWAT)...some for a few months...(dennis the menace) and some for 15 years (Mary Tyler Moore). There is no rhyme or reason why some go and some stay forever. I mean the Munsters only made like 60 awful shows. How many time can you show them? Even the good shows like Three's Company they just run to death. Maybe I am rambling but visit message boards sometimes and see how many people want to see thier shows from Silver Spoons to Punky Brewster to Car 54 and the list goes on and you don't give a damn about them so we can see stupid Lucy whine one more time or hear Archie call Mike a meathead. DIE TV LAND!

"Three's Company" only comes on four times a day, and two of those slots are terrible. They air "I Love Lucy" because it's a classic. "The Brady Bunch" comes on once a day at 6:00am (central). You need to calm down, seriously.

So how do you feel about The Cosby Show?
Anyway, most of the shows you listed either had a direct following or its a cult classic. Yeah, I think Nick at Nite sucks. I've bitched about that one for so long, I made myself sick. The only good show on that channel is All in the Family. Tv Land is still a lot better than Nick at Nite. If you don't like the shows that tvland plays, maybe you should consider buying a dvd player and some dvds. Maybe Columbia House has released some of your favorite shows. That's the only thing I can tell you. If you hate today's music, pull out your old cds or your 8 track tapes and listen to them. If you hate today's shows or shows that tvland has, dig out your old tapes or buy some dvds. If you hate the movies that are being released in 2002, dig out your old movies and watch them. That's the only way you are going to get satisfaction. |

My point was that no matter how good the show is it gets old. I was not really arguing the merits of any shows, even the ones I don't like. I mentioned Lucy because it runs SO many times on SO many channels that its an obvious target but even the ones I like, such as Three's Company I am sick of so I am not just saying put a lineup I like on I am saying change all the shows once in a while. As for a dvd player I have one, as for Columbia House I have finished three series collections from there, just recently SOAP which allowed me to see how badly TV treated it when they aired it last week. Another thing with Columbia House is that thier lists of shows are limited. Why? Because the ones owned by Viacom (tv lands owner) are yanked are not offered because TV Land does not want you to see it anywhere else but there. Leave it Beaver is one that they own that they won't release and CH recently pulled SOAP that they used to have because Nick bought the rights to it. I mean its one thing to pull a series becuase you want to air it but they hold the rights to many many shows they never even air so even if you wanted to buy it you can't. I am sorry that is plain selfish. By the way, TV land is delted from my channels as of last night...and I am calmed down!

I agree NAN is rushing into the late 80s and early 90s, they didn't even go through the 80s, but anyway ... I like the fact they finally have Cheers, Cosby Show, and Family Ties. But I do think that TCS should have stayed on TBS for a few more years, but the rest should be on NAN, FT hasn't been on in years and Cheers has that crappy spot on WPIX, which is bumping it off. They are rushing things now more than ever, it is a mistake to have Roseanne, Full House, and Coach this soon, why don't they get Murphy Brown if they are rushing like this?

"The Cosby Show" here is run to death. Not only is it rerun to death on Cable, it comes on four times a day on my local FOX! And "Cosby" comes on twice.
N@N seems to have gone into the route of TBS: Air shows that are a proven hit in reruns. "The Cosby Show" and "Cheers" do pretty well in reruns. The only show on N@N that is not on local stations is "Three's Company". Compared to theo ther shows on N@N, it's barely shown. Networks don't like going for things out of the norm. Most channels only air the normal rerun material - I Love Lucy, Andy Griffith, Dick Van Dyke, Mary Tyler Moore, All in the Family. Not cult shows like Mary Hartman, Soap, SWAT, etc. TV Land at least tries to air them. Some interesting shows are joining TV Land soon. Bob Newhart Show which hasn't been on cable since spring of last year, Archie Bunker's Place, Tabitha. And who knows what else is coming. |

I don't know where you get that line about not blaming the network...who do you think puts the shows on? Again, I was not talking about I love Lucy just on TV land but the other 150 times a day its on everywhere else! I am not saying oh just put my shows on I am saying put ANYTHING on but these shows. If I see the Beverly Hilbillies again I might wait outside the studio with a high powered rifle and make them go into the vault and burn every episode made. Just kidding..but I would be doing the future generations a public service. Take SWAT for instance...its pretty lame but its at least watchcable and not been run to death and what happened? TVLAND is already replacing it. There is just no justice...and by the way...IN Living Color WOULD be a great addition to F/X or TVLAND

I don't think he needs to calm down at all. He's only giving his opinion. Everything he said makes perfect sense.
JT--you telling anyone to calm down is laughable. I've seen you go ballistic in posts. He wasn't bashing I Love Lucy. He used it as an example. How many ways does he have to say it? YOU need to calm down, seriously. |
