Actually, she graduated from UCLA for a BA in Communication and MA in Theater Arts. Beauty and Brains for our Miss Cissy.

As a very bright young woman living in the northeast, I've fictionalized Cissy as having set her sights on Yale. Of course, in real life the active college-age TV actors very commonly attended west-coast universities if they were in an ongoing production and/or settled in CA permanently.
