Do you think they went overboard with both boys getting married so soon in life?

They created a situation where Polly was really suffering from living at home. It didn't seem to be a case where a 19 year old is wildly out of control, but a father who failed to understand that his little girl had grown up.

Maybe Polly's mom (who was her ultimate liberator~ giving consent to elope) could have allowed her to live on campus in the girls' dorm. It would have given her some much needed breathing space.

I didn't think Chip was financially sound at all to venture to Mexico for a honeymoon. It would have been more realistic for them to romp to the next town to have a few days to discover themselves.
