I'd like to begin by saying that I am so glad that I found this forum. I've had a difficult time finding information concerning Freddy Prinze; all I've been able to find are sites regarding his son.
This may sound ludicrous to many, but I just recently found out about Prinze's death. I remember watching Chico and the Man as a very young child. I was only 3 when Prinze took his life. When I discovered that TV Land was airing a Chico and the Man marathon, I immediately called my father to let him know (My best childhood memories were of he and I watching sitcoms, such as this one.), and he recalled his memory of Freddy Prinze's death. I suppose I was never told about it when it happened because I was so young, but I think the information hit me as hard as it would have back then. Chico and the Man, in my opinion, is one of the best sitcoms of the 70s. Being of Mexican descent, I didn't see many Hispanic influences on TV at that time. It's nice to see that, despite the tragedy of his death, Freddy Prinze brought a positive light to the Hispanic community, during a time when it wasn't always viewed as respectable. |

Thanks for the information. I checked out the website... It's nice to know that I'm not the only one whose curiosity has just recently been sparked!
