I have been a fan of Unsolved Mysteries for years but just discovered this website today. It's great to know other people enjoy the show as much as I do (and watch the Lifetime reruns over and over again hoping for some updates). I swear, I've seen some of these episodes 6 or 7 times, but I still get totally wrapped up in the stories...and even tear up watching lost loves re-unite.
Does anyone remember watching the early UM "specials" with Raymond Burr and Karl Malden? One of my favorite cases was on one of those very first shows and I've only seen it once. A young man doing research on a book about Abraham Lincoln disappears after leaving his briefcase at a museum. His car is found abandoned but there is no sign of him anywhere. After he disappears, he leaves a message on a friend's answering machine and is also spotted at a bar close to where he went missing. Police find his body years later in an area they had already searched. I also remember something about the phonecall to the friend being traced back to the home of a man who refused to cooperate with police and later went missing himself. |
